Global Warming alarmists don't get irony. They've had their sense of humor bone removed.

But it's not ironic. Ironic would have been if the protest were scheduled for the middle of the summer, and it snowed. This is just bad timing for the protesters.AZGrizFan wrote:Global Warming alarmists don't get irony. They've had their sense of humor bone removed.![]()
It seems to me that the anti-global warming crowd are grasping at straws if they get excited every time it snows in winter.

Yes. Irony is when the unexpected happens. There is nothing unexpected about snow in Denmark in December.dgreco wrote:so we could say this was coincidental, correct?BlueHen86 wrote:

So it's ironic that a climate related protest was shut down by the climate which coincidentally performed perfectly for the time of year...

Re: Snowstorm squelches climate change protest
The protest in question was supposed to take place in Salt Lake City, not Denmark.
I'd reiterate the facts that "global warming" does not mean that EVERY place is getting warmer ALL the time, and that it instead refers to the GLOBAL averages, which causes all sorts of different climate changes around the world. But that fact is too complicated for many to grasp.
Personally, I've given up caring. The faster we humans kill ourselves off, the quicker the planet can recover it's ecosystems after we're gone.

But it's supposed to snow in winter. When it doesn't it gives them a little ammo to use.AZGrizFan wrote:And alarmists get excited every time it doesn't.BlueHen86 wrote:

The issue isn't "Is the world warming up?", it's "Are we the cause of the world warming up?'
I think the answer to the first question is "yes" and the answer to the second question is "we don't know"
I tend to think that most protesters (especially the ones who protest stuff that they don't understand) are kooks, so by all means laugh at them for getting snowed out.
There are ponds near the house where I grew up that use to freeze every winter, I learned to play ice hockey on them. They don't freeze anymore, at least not enough to skate on them. I'm sympathetic to the global warming crowd, primarilily becasue I think we need to be prepared for global warming, even if we aren't the cause. Global warming is a debate worth having.

86, I agree 100%. "Deniers" (as alarmists would have us labeled) simply don't like having faux science forced down our throats as fact, and then having entire governments/societies go through forced/mandated upheaval because of that faulty science.BlueHen86 wrote:But it's supposed to snow in winter. The polar icecaps have been in flux since there has been water on the planet. We have had countless periods where there were NO icecpas. Conversely, there have been periods where the north polar icecap has extended down south of what is now Pennsylvania. There was a time when parts of what is now Antarctica was covered by temperate rainforest, complete with dinosaurs. This cycle of warming and cooling will continue until our own sun turns into a red giant and burns all the water off and turns the planet to a cinder. Perhaps you should start planning for that, too. The people on the mountaintops will fry first. Think of all the snow bunnies!
Saying that the icecaps are shrinking is like saying the world is turning.
BTW- the southern icecap is not shrinking. It is adding ice.

Yet, as deeply concerned as you appear about logical incongruities within Christianity, I hear little from the atheist/agnositic/Anti-Christian/Hate America/Self-Haters about the logical incongruities of Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, Bahai, Judaism, Shintoism, Sikhism...Chizzang wrote:travelinman67 wrote: That's actually one of George Carlin's funniest and astute observations...
