Teabaggers' latest bright idea:

Post by Skjellyfetti »

Some Tea Party activists from across the country are planning a 'national strike' on January 20, the one-year anniversary of President Barack Obama's inauguration.

The idea of holding an economic protest sprung up during the holidays as the result of a conference call held by various Tea Party group leaders, according to Allen Hardage, a conservative grassroots organizer from Georgia.

"Tea Party activists are frustrated that despite a huge turnout over the last year Congress is ignoring them," says Hardage, who is national operations director for the planned strike. "The question is that if the elected officials ignore you, what do you do to exercises your right to self-governance? So we decided to hold a National Day of Strike where we go after the large donors of the people pushing this radical agenda."

Hardage says the idea of the one-day strike is to focus attention on the businesses that support the most liberal members of Congress as well as groups that advocate "big government" policies.

But Hardage says the move will not be a boycott: "Here we are exposing the agenda of some of the most widely known companies in America and letting the consumer decide. If a corporation decides to jump into politics to the tune of millions of dollars, then they need to expect that they will alienate some of their customers."

The strike is being promoted online through the organizers' Web site through Web sites of various Tea Party groups and on social networking sites.

CNN reached out to a number of national Tea Party organizations. While some were aware of the planned strike and some not informed, none said they were going to actively take part in the event.

Ah yes - the Tea Party movement that funnells 85% of the contributions back to it's founding members.

A major scam, indeed

Meh - boycotts/strikes/protests never amount to much...

Now, mid-term elections OTOH - that's when we'll see just how upset folks are at the ruling party (you know, the party of Kaine, of Corzine, of Creigh Deeds...)

I hope somebody helps the Tea Baggers with the spelling...
I mean seriously - their mini revolution has become an advertisement for our education system - and perhaps a little help with the differences between a Fascist / Socialist / Communist

This is my problem with the TEAbaggers.....if you are going to plan a strike protesting taxes (Taxed Enough Already?), then plan it on April 15, not Jan 20. The fact they are planning it to basically protest the inauguration of Obama is so transparant that their movement is anti-Obama, not anti-big govt/anti-taxes. It's as if they think government spending went to hell on Jan 20, 2009, but prior to that, the government was spending our tax dollars in a responsible manner...wher they fok have they been? Welcome to the party.....idiots...:coffee:

Maybe they should do a 5,000 man march? That might be all they could muster....

I could be wrong but I thought it was on the 18th and it was a protest to the Congress because it is the day they go back in session. If that is the case then I see them doing justice to their cause and protesting properly.

Really? Or has he just perfected the art of accounting for the war spending in the budget so you get a truer picture of just how our government is fokking us..... :coffee:

That would be a little more credible.....the symbolism, not the group itself....

Nope, it's the 20th. Looks like they need some organizational help.

Well then my point is moot, because I think the 18th would of added as Appaholic said "credible symbolism".

Yes, very entertaining and at the same time kind of sad.

Here's all these people that on some level realize how f'ed up things are but can only bring themselves to champion the same old Republican meems of cutting taxes and blaming the evil left, while ignoring the massive transfer of wealth away from the middle class that has been going on for a few decades now.

The funny thing is there are probably just as many disenfranchised progressives on the left who if invited to join in, the tea baggers would find, share many of the same core values.

I'm tellin ya though, these tea bagger folks are gonna be looking for a charismatic, populist type leader who can speak to them at their level. If the economy remains stagnant or gets worse she is going to have quite the following in the Republican Party and could be a contender:
