Indeed, so stop getting high on nitrous oxide and listening to Dead albums and pick up the pace.

I have been remiss in my posting volume. I've just been uber busy at work, no downtime to post much. It's been crazy around here the last three months! But I'm back, and will get right on rounding up some stuff to post.
But, on-topic, doesn't this shit with the ping-ponging piss you off. I mean, even as a progressive, you'd have to be pretty disappointed with the ease with which he has tossed so many of his promises on the fire. I'm no fan of BO, but I'm also not a hater. But I am disappointed in him in many respects. If he had lived up to the image he portrayed I could have at least respected him.

I'm getting to that point. Some of this crap is just easy to do. Like the access to health care debates. Whether something shady is going on behind the scenes or not, ignoring the CSPAN request sure makes it look like it is.
Yeah, that and the fact that Nebraska just negotiated their way out of the cost.

He definitely made some unrealistic promises and is now founding out how hard it is to actually keep said promises in Washington.

It's like the kid running for President of the high school. "I promise a vending machine in every hallway and Tacos for lunch every Tuesday!"

Not very progressive indeed. Perhaps Obama's actions have something to do with this:
Published on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 by Raw Story
Obama Received $20 Million from Healthcare Industry in 2008 Campaign
Almost three times the amount given to McCain
by Brad Jacobson
While some sunlight has been shed on the hefty sums shoveled into congressional campaign coffers in an effort to influence the Democrats' massive healthcare bill, little attention has been focused on the far larger sums received by President Barack Obama while he was a candidate in 2008.
A new figure, based on an exclusive analysis created for Raw Story by the Center for Responsive Politics, shows that President Obama received a staggering $20,175,303 from the healthcare industry during the 2008 election cycle, nearly three times the amount of his presidential rival John McCain. McCain took in $7,758,289, the Center found.

What a cop out on this one...
Yea, he made promises hard to keep...this one is simple...
Tell the Senate and House to open negotiations...it's that simple...

He's sure turned out to be a friend of Politics as usual...
We need a few more Republicans in congress to grid lock this secret horse-sh!t
A House & Senate Majority of any party is ALWAYS a bad thing

Bullshit GATW. He either mans up and makes the tough call to live up to his promises, or he's just another hack like the rest of them. Falling back on the old "well it's just too tough to get anything done in Washington without backdoor deals" routine is sad. Like I said, I'm no fan of BO, but I'm no hater either. I had hopes that he might be for real under all that media paint, but turns out he's just another POS.

Glad to see ya back also DD. I started a thread of your whereabouts about a month ago.
I agree with all that said as well, I ain't an Obama guy but I wasn't a McCain either. I did see through Obama's BS and didn't think he was a very genuine dude though. We got our American Idolbama though so we look good to the rest of the world.
Good for us.

I too had hopes... and it only took about 9 months for them to be crushed

Hey dude, I've never told you, but I love your avatar. It's the shizz. Sideboob is a wonderful thing. I mean, I like full frontal nudity as much as the next guy, but there's just something special about really good sideboob, ya' know?

I had to have that as my Avatar because it reminded me of my girlfriend
Every time (for a while) when she was naked I was always trying to take her picture and I basically got a dozen shots of her scowling or screaming while giving me the finger and a little accidental "side boob"
She makes me turn off my phone now whenever I come over to her house...

You have yet to prove me wrong from months ago....
Side note...how the hell does the main topic of a thread become a side note to the thread that is still on the first page?....anyway....I agree completely with you about it being bad when one part has the majority in the house and senate. Even worse when they also have the President seat

There were multitudes of media and politicians as well as regular citizens who tried to warn against exactly what is transpiring now in the fall of 2008.
Unfortunately they were marginalized by the overwhelming majority of the media as the truth didn't fit their agenda. It is also unfortunate that we are collectively all stuck with this situation for at least 3 more years, in which time bills can be passed, money spent, promises made that this nation will never recover from.
Remember this: ALL politicians, regardless of party affiliation or ideology, are in politics for one reason and one reason only- the acquisition, expansion, and retention of power. Our tax money, lawfully earned by the working citizens of this nation and taken at the point of a gun, is the capital politicians use to further that very basic agenda. As less and less of the populace shoulders more and more of the burden under our unfair system of progressive taxation, the balance of power skews and will (you may argue has) become out of balance and the system will be irreparably broken.
Remember this too: Every dollar a politician takes from a business owner like me is a dollar that I won't reinvest into my community in the form of creating jobs and buying goods and services from my neighbors.

Irreparably broken..?
Promises made that this nation will never recover from..?
I agree that he's turning out to be a regular old politician - just like the one who left office
but all of it can be adjusted / fixed / changed / modified at some point in the future - nothing this president has done in his first year has been chiseled in stone
No reason to get too dramatic - we just need some Republicans to get elected in the Senate and House to get some balance back in Congress... Not too many (I'm a Liberal you know) just a few more Republicans

Maybe I got it wrong Cleets but i take it to mean that the populace is too easily swayed by some shiny lights and can't see through the bullshit. No matter what this president is doing it could be fixed if the populace weren't so easily swayed by the carney's on the midway but we are so nothing he is doing is going to be fixed because we focus on the glitz when choosing WHO we want to back. We're gonna back this turd if he does ONE little thing before the 2012 election and even if we don't we're gonna back another turd that is cut of the same cloth whether he be dem or repub.

With the exception of a small increase under Clinton which helped balance the budget, taxes on the wealthy and corporations has been going down ever since Reagan while the weatlh gap has increased dramtically, wages have been stagnant, and good paying manufacturing jobs have been replaced with the service industry. It's the opposite of what you think.
And btw, demand creates jobs, not business owners. So if you take your ball and go home while there is still a market for your product or you cut expenses and thereby the quality of your service or product, someone else will fill that void.
