...at the library today. HOW REPUBLICANS CAN WIN THE WORKING CLASS AND SAVE THE AMERICAN DREAM. Basically it is reflecting on how important the working class vote is, yet how fickle and ungrounded the working class voters have been throughout the history of the 20th-21st centuries. GREAT READ and I am really starting to wonder what just may have happened had Barry Goldwater won the 1964 election instead of LBJ.

Amazing how Goldwater stood for abortion and gay rights yet did not toe the civil rights line and that's what cost him, outside AZ and the deep south. I wasn't alive, but I can only imagine how the south felt one year later when LBJ passed the voting rights act. My father was serving in Germany at the time and he absolutely HATED LBJ and to this day thinks he played a role in JFK's assassination. It's a good read so far. I'm about to go into the sexual revolution and its effect upon the social order of the day. Good read.
