a GOP presidential ranking blog had the potential candidates for 2012. I thought it was interesting because I read that Eric Cantor has spent more time on tv/in the news than any republican in the last two months.

I think it will be interesting to look at this after 2010 elections going into 2011 and how well it matches up.

1. Tim Pawlenty Gov. MN
2. Mike Pence US Rep. IN
3. Jim DeMint US Sen. SC
4. Rick Perry Governor TX
5. John Thune US Sen. SD
6. Mitt Romney Gov. MA
7. Haley Barbour Gov. MS
8. New Gingrich Speaker GA
9. Mitch Daniels Gov. IN
10. Eric Cantor US Rep. VA
11. Jeb Bush Gov. FL
12. Luis Fortuno Gov. PR
13. Jon Kyl US Sen. AZ
14. Bobby Jindal Gov. LA
15. Dan Quayle former VP
16. Bob Corker US Sen. TN
17. Mike Huckabee Gov. AR
18. Sarah Palin Gov. AK
19. Rick Santorum former US Sen. PA
20. Kay Bailey Hutchinson US Sen. TX
21. Paul Ryan US Rep. WI
22. Marco Rubio US Sen. Candidate FL
23. George Pataki Gov. NY
24. Dirk Kempthorne US Sen. ID/Sec. of Interior
25. Chuck Grassley US Sen. IA

List is way too long. It stops being realistic maybe after Barbour at #7. Gingrich is not electable nationwide, Jeb Bush is actually a decent candidate but his brother's performance has pretty much erased any chance of that happening, Dan Quayle (??? seriously? I'm shocked he's even still around), and Santorum probably still would get trounced in an election in PA if he ever ran again, let alone a nationwide one.

Of course, barring a sustained economic malaise, all of this could be moot as Obama is clearly the favorite for 2012, even with his currrent problems.

I would seriously have to question the validity of this poll.

Here is the Quayle writeup
Dan Quayle, former Vice President. He just endorsed conservative Ovide Lamontagne against GOP establishement favorite Kelly Ayotte in the New Hampshire US Senate primary. Why would someone insert themselves into New Hampshire Republican politics, I wonder? He’s been running in investment-banking circles, which are great for fundraising. Just 62 years old.

Unless Dan Quayle changes his name, has some cosmetic work done, and immediately disavows he is the same Dan Quayle who was VP under Bush I, he has no chance whatsoever of successfully running for President.

I'm just happy that both Huckabee and Palin are behind Quayle. :thumb: :thumb:

Jeb is a superior politician and public servant compared to his brother. Examples: his flawless Spanish and his competent handling of hurricanes in Florida. Despite his mistakes and the left-wing stereotypes, GW is a pretty smart guy, but brother Jeb probably has 20 IQ points on George. If - God forbid - there is another successful terror incident on American soil, Jeb might become an instantly viable candidate.

Pawlenty should be up there but not number one. DeMint is too high. Romney would be the #1 in my mind right now.

Romney is actually quite moderate - possibly even liberal. He would be a perfect foil to a conservative/libertarian Republican Congress. Even I prefer a degree of divided government and gridlock. But Obama is just toooo incompetent and toooo out there with his scattershot left wing ideas, policies and advisors.

Palin would be dangerous with a Republican Congress.

Not sure about the others.

That list is almost as pathetic as the current Democratic leadership. :ohno:

Where are the Chuck Hagel's of the world when you need them.

Do you not think Harry Reid to be a liberal?

Have you never heard of a "jack" Mormon? Of course, I suppose a jack is just a libertarian who grew up Mormon, or maybe a Mormon who chose libertarianism.

I thought Obama should have tapped him to be VP. If Hagel would have agreed to it. I still wouldn't have voted for Obama, but I think it would have been a good move.

There's a growing buzz for Daniels. And Bobby Jindal trails the governor of Puerto Rico? Who knew?

Demint certainly walks the conservative walk, but I don't think he could win a national election. He has some supported some things that aren't bad (depending on your opinion obviously) but could be used against him such as the Fair Tax (cue blueballs). At least I think he has supported the fair tax. :?

Jack and I got into a discussion which developed into an argument a long time ago. He ended up kicking my arse, so I don't speak to that asshole anymore.

I would be fine with DeMint's economic views but there is no way he wins in a national election. He would dominate the south and and the plains, but ultimately he has the EXACT OPPOSITE views of people in the Northeast and West coast

Not one of them is qualified to lead the conservative movement.

They are all talking head traitors and will just keep the pedal to the metal on spending.
