Wow. Will be interesting to see what comes of this.

A Muslim Abu Ghraib? Considering the horrific violence that the Haqqanis had perpetrated to date, I had trouble imagining what they could have done now that would suddenly have the power to enflame the Muslim world. After all, that kind of outrage is normally reserved for terrible insults by the West, like cartoons, operas, or free speech. Then, my contact told me his story. It made me absolutely sick to my stomach.
As Siraj Haqqani moved from village to village, rounding up the sons of poor Muslim families to fight for the Taliban and Al Qaeda, he offered the villagers free medical care. He even sent his physician, Dr. Hassan Duraz to conduct the clinics. There was a horrific catch, though. Duraz was a monster.
He arrived in each village with Siraj Haqqani’s uncle, Ibrahim, and Siraj’s cousin, Ishak, in tow. With them, the Haqqanis brought along their own very special tools of terror – a video camera and an eye for human flesh. You see, with Haqqani healthcare, you not only received a medical exam, if you were an attractive young girl, you also got a screen test. And heaven forbid you passed.
For those women and girls unfortunate enough to catch the good doctor’s fancy, it was show time. The Haqqani uncle and cousin would be brought into the exam room, they would set up their video equipment, and Duraz would drop his trousers and go to work.
The Haqqanis and Duraz sexually assaulted poor women throughout the tribal regions and captured every moment of their degradation and humiliation on video to enjoy over and over again.
Times were good for the Haqqani pornography ring. Their enterprise thrived until someone slipped up and word leaked out. In the blink of an eye, Siraj Haqqani was in big trouble.

Oh, Phu-LEASE. Forcing muslims to read the bible is MUCH worse than raping, torturing and videoing young girls, then going back and killing all the victims.
In fact, I'd be surprised if the ACLU doesn't get involved here.

Don't forget flushing a Koran down the toilet...even though I can't imagine how one would fit...even if it was torn up by a big meany of an American guard.

THIS is a perfect example of why I laugh in the face of morons who call what happened at Abu Ghraib "torture". Was it bad judgment? Yes. Was it stupid? Yes. Should it end careers? Absolutely. But torture? Not by a LONG shot. Muslims are lightyears ahead of us on this issue.

That is why it will be interesting to see what happens. The article states that the only thing worse than raping the women while filiming, was the guy killing everyone involved to cover his tracks once it was discovered.
If they don't kill this guy, it will show how absolutely hypocritical many in the Taliban are. Much like all the Imams requesting everyone else do their dirty work, but yet don't have the balls to commit suicide themselves.

The Taliban will kill this guy and his troupe. That's for certain. They don't take kindly to rape unless it is by a husband with any of his 20 wives.

That was posted by Brad Thor, one of my absolute favorite authors!
His 2008 novel, The Last Patriot was banned in Saudi Arabia, and was nominated as best thriller of the year by the International Thriller Writers Association. A little tid bit I got from Wiki...
His books are a great, and a very entertaining, informative read! If anyone has ever read any of Vince Flynn's stuff, and liked it, you'd LOVE what Brad Thor writes!!

They had a big head start, but we're working hard to close the gap.

I would have been better stated if I said, the many people that support the Taliban will realize how hypocritical their leaders are, if they don't kill this guy.
I realize there are tons of hypocrites in all walks of life. The Taliban just seems to have a pretty good run going as far as getting people willing to die for their cause. And yes, I know they are not the first group, nor will they be the last in history to do such.

There are varying degrees of torture. For instance, the loud rock music played at Gitmo was a form of low grade torture. If instead, they had used the horrendously cheesy and hard on the ears mewlings of say a Celine Dione or Kings of Leon for hours on end, I would have been ashamed to be an American as no one deserves to be subjected that kind of abuse.
Not to mention we signed treaties agreeing what torture is and not to do it.
Call me crazy, but I kinda of like it when we're held to a higher standard.

I agree with the higher standard, but redefining torture for the benefit of the weak willed isn't the answer.

I'm pretty sure it was Dick Cheney who redefined torture.

I'll be holding my breath waiting for Amnesty International's lawyers to file a complaint with the U.N.

Well, they're worse than us.

Did anybody die at Abu Ghraib?
Didn't think so.

Have any prisoners in the War on Terror died while in U.S. custody?
Just because the other guys are worse doesn't make us violating our own laws, treaties, and constitution any better.

I'm talking about Abu Ghraib, kalm. Do you consider what happened at Abu Ghraib "torture"?
Yes or no.

I can't help it if the title of the thread is stupidly named. And for the record, I already realize the bad guys chop off heads and the like. I'm more interested in our reaction to it, the perserverance of justice, and maintaining the laws that seperate us from them.
