Not your typical Muslim terrorist...at least on the outside.

I read the Post article when it came out the other morning, and the thrust of the by-line advert for the story was how this is an example of why we can't just look at Middle Eastern males when we are trying to ferret out terrorists. It was a fairly ham-handed attempt to poke at the proponents of profiling.

This is where some people go wrong. If you put all your eggs in just one strategic basket (i.e: racial profiling, covert surveillance, wiretapping, HUMINT, etc) then you have already failed. We need to be using EVERY strategy available to us to combat global terrorism. The bad guys certainly do not scrimp on methods.

This means that we do not throw out this method or that method simply because they make some people uncomfortable. Racial profiling is one of many tools (not many people realize or know that racial profiling has been upheld by the SCOTUS, PROVIDED THAT it is used in conjunction with other methods of corroboration).

The bottom line is that this woman was caught. Not only was she caught, but she was held for intel purposes for some time. The media has come along after the fact trying to wag fingers about how this shows that we should not just be looking at Arab males. My question would be that if we were only looking at Arab males, then HOW did we catch this broad?

I live only about 20 minutes south of Pennsburg where this chick was from - you start to leave normal civilization by the time you get up there. I mean, they don't even have Wawas up there, only 7-Elevens. Definitely odd.

Using e-mail, YouTube videos, phony travel documents and a burning desire to kill "or die trying," a middle-aged American woman from Pennsylvania helped recruit a network for suicide attacks and other terrorist strikes in Europe and Asia, according to a federal grand jury indictment unsealed Tuesday.
Sounds like a mid-life crisis if you ask me.
