French Can Fly Their Flag...U.S. Can't Fly Ours

This is so much B.S....
There are two compounds in Hati providing relief that have national flags flying...the U.S. and the French...
Except, the U.S. flag has been ordered taken down...
The United States has brought millions of dollars and many tons of aid to Haiti, but one thing we brought is not welcome: the American flag. For awhile, it flew over the compound where the Joint Task Force Haiti was operating, but no more. Apparently, Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive thought it implied a U.S. occupation, and so, in a pitiful example of political correctness, it was lowered. This is even more ironic given that the French contingent proudly flies its flag and France held Haiti as a colony until a bloody revolution.

So, they want our money...they want our military to deliver the type of services that most other countries can't...but they won't let us fly our flag over our own compound...
And the Obama Administration bows down and accepts this treatment...

When the USA loses to HAITI it is time to get some new "leaders".

Seriously, this matters how? People donating all this time and money to Haiti to help them and rebuild there care next to nothing about whether their donations will also be tied to getting to fly Stars and Stripes over a compound. We get upset over the silliest things - I donated $10 to Haiti and not once did I do so with the hope that a flag would go along with my donation.

Are you worried that people won't know we're there if we don't advertise?

It's called respect (a concept I understand you have a problem with, Jellydonut).
The Haitians are in denial which is manifested by their false pride.
Their country is a dysfunctional mess...
...has been for decades.
And they wouldn't have a pot to piss in but for America.
Yet they are "offended" by the notion that their alleged "sovereignty" is indebted to the U.S.
How pathetic.

Our flag stands for "freedom" and you know, they hate us for our freedom.
The French flag stands for "surrender", and Haiti has no fear of it.

Hope springs eternal!
I really, really want to believe that you mean it, Wedgie.

Whether he meant it or not, he's 1000% spot on.

With all due respect, that was a waste of $10. Haitians will probably never see a dime of that money go towards helping them or improving thier country.

But it was his to waste - isn't that what is important?

Indeed. One can argue that any money spent on helping the poor and disadvantaged is wasted as we'll always have the poor and disadvantaged. Doesn't mean I can't try to help.

Gotta use your head. For example, in my neighborhood, I NEVER give cash to a self-proclaimed vet on the street corner, because there is a legit veteran shelter only blocks away, which enjoys my support. The ones standing on the corner are either fake or druggies for whom my cash would not be a blessing.
