What kind of govt would work?
Seems like half the country is always pissed so whats the better solution? A two party system is broke and the elected are corrupt.
I don't see any fix. People will always be power hungry and do what benefits them whether its for money or notoriety.

Return to the original Constitution and Bill of Rights, plus a couple of amendments like the 13th and 19th. (edit)slycat wrote:Seems like half the country is always pissed so whats the better solution? A two party system is broke and the elected are corrupt.

But no one "enforce" it. Plus its dated. The problems is the elected who only care about their careers. THe idea that the general population gets a say is lost. Of course even if we did, no one would show up to vote anyway.native wrote:Return to the original Constitution and Bill of Rights, plus a couple of amendments like the 13th and 18th.slycat wrote:Seems like half the country is always pissed so whats the better solution? Party lines are too strong and there isn't enough moderation. Beliefs are great but to vote party lines and not think individually is asinine. A strong third party might help because then someone would have to choose a side to pass bills. Of course that would get corrupt and ruined too.

Moderation is not the problem. The size of government, its growth, intrusion into the lives of citizens, and abandonment of the original principles of the founders are the problem.slycat wrote:But no one "enforce" it. If the IRS were abolished and federal government were stripped of all responsibilities except military, customs and the federal courts, then party gridlock would not matter.

The kind where at the end of the month the least diligent congressman from each party is dragged up and down Pennsylvania Ave. behind a draft horse while the rest of them watch.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

The internet is a huge fucking problem in our democracy, imo. It's been the main fuel behind the polarization over the past 15 years or so. Everyone gets information and news that they agree with. Misinformation can be spread with ease with no accountability.
There's nothing that can be done about it that I can think of, though.
We have access to more information than we've ever had before. And we are stupid as fuck.

I would even be willing to decriminalize all drugs as long as it was fully legal to discriminate against druggies in employment and protect my property with deadly force.

The only problem with the internet is that it makes it really easy to find out how bad these politicians are SODOMIZING the US Constitution. They have to become really hidden and non transparent to get lies voted into law. The internet is a great thing in this case.

In addition to the Bill of Rights, Abolishing Slavery and providing for women's suffrage are the ones I care about.

Anything that affects behavior on duty or reflects poorly on the company off duty should be fair game for employment discrimination.Skjellyfetti wrote:Ok to discriminate against which drugs? Alcohol? Weed? Any?native wrote:

Do whatever in the privacy of your own home, but far enough ahead of time to show up to work clear-eyed, clear-minded and able to pass a piss/blood test.
