Slate for Conservative side?

Post by mebison »

Alright, honest question here, hear me out before I am thrown to the wolves:

I'm looking for a good site with write-ups and policy analysis from a conservative stand-point, at a relatively lay-level. I frequently read stuff off of Slate, which is obviously heavily left, but I find it informative because they are also frequently critical of ideas or actions from the left and they approach things fairly analytically (some authors moreso than others, obviously). I'd be interested in finding the same thing from a conservative standpoint. Something more substantial than simply throwing the word socialist around and something less histrionic than commentators you see on TV from either side. Showing a willingness to critize one's own party or leanings is a good sign.

Any tips before this decends into a firefight would be appreciated! :thumb:

If you find one let me know. Unfortunately not much out there from the convseravtive POV that isn't somehow ties to hysteria. Shoot, the so-called conservatives on this board have all but imploded in fear since Sunday.

It's not "fear", DF. It's resignation.

I'd buck up if it was solely up to me, native. But when you thing about the millions upon millions of total retards who STILL buy into this guy's schtick (and his minions like Pelosi, Reid, etc)....we're just fucked.

Fear is when you're AFRAID something bad is going to happen.
Resignation is when you KNOW something bad is going to happen.

I'm loading up on ammo, weapons, freeze-dried food and bottled water, and will begin immediately searching for a defensible compound.

Think "Road Warrior", "Waterworld" and "The Postman". :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Already got one, AZG. It's got water, good soil, some timber, far from urban population but good ingress and egress, and a defensible HQ with 12-inch thick stone walls and excellent visibility of the surrounding countryside.

There is plenty of legitimate criticism of Republican politicians and tactics from social conservatives, fiscal conservatives and libertarians from places like the CATO Institute, Reason Magazine, National Review Online, even the American Spectator and the Heritage Foundation.

What you will not find is an embrace of communism, socialism, or most of the elements of progressivism.

To be clear, I don't mean I want a site that exclusively criticizes Republicans or conservatives. I just mean that I see some presence of self-criticism as a sign that a site is blindly partison to the point of toeing the party line.

Thanks for the places you mentioned, I'll check them out.

These are all very good sites... Neal Boortz's site and daily "news" is good too.
