I already did.

Those fu*kers dont need to know anything but the number of people in this country. Why do they keep putting race into everything?

I know why.

I really do encourage all good conservatives to just throw away the census forms when they come in the mail, and shoot the census workers when they come to your front door. The government really has no right to know who you are and where you live. Just go right on ahead and let the fucktard lib's be the only ones to send in their forms, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So when I start my job as an census enumerator on Monday, I'm pretty much dead.

So basically everyone that's not giving a fuck about this is going to make this shit harder for everyone (and more expensive). Basically for every 1% of the population that doesn't fill it out, it costs the government 90 million dollars (not that Alpha cares but he's a fringe lunatic so fuck him).

There are 7 questions on the census (only 6 if your filing it out at your residence). Name, Age/DOB, Sex, Are you Hispanic/Latino/Spanish and Race are the 5 big ones (the 6th is if your filling it out at your residence and the 7th is a follow up to it). AND YOU ONLY HAVE TO ANSWER THREE OF THE FIVE FOR IT TO BE "COMPLETE".

For those concerned about why the government needs to know this info, it's for how federal and state funds will be divided up (more people in an area = more jobs for public service workers in that area) and determine House of Rep seats and taxation. That's all this is for. It stays within the Department of Commerce and doesn't go to anyone else. The only things that are released are total population numbers and that's to make the changes needed to federal spending, House of Reps and taxation. Then after this year, the info will be locked up for a lifetime.

Also, the census doesn't ask anything that is secretive or revealing. No SS number or income. Other than birthday, your neighbors could probably fill out your census for you.

I started this thread. I never said anyone shouldn't fill it out and mail it in. Its the law. I filled out every question except for the Hispanic ethnicity one and for the race one I marked other and then wrote in "American". Talked to my best friend tonight. He left the ethnicity & race questions blank and mailed it back in.

Everything you said above can still be accomplished without answering the ethnicity and race questions.

How come "hispanic" isn't considered a race anyway?
I mean, yeah, there are different variations of hispanics. But there are different variations of blacks (and/or "African-Americans"), and different variations of every other "race" too.

Or the question about if you own your home......................

They dont need to know race, period.

All that does is continue to divide the country because they use that info in a way detrimental to all.

I was replying to OSBF who was encouraging the idea of shooting census workers (like me) who didn't make up the rules but are just doing their job. I naturally got pissed off at it.

I really don't care what's filled in under the Hispanic/Lation/Spanish question. I don't know why it's there as it seems odd but if I were to guess, it would probably be to prepare the infrastructure for Spanish-speaking populace (ESL programs and such) since the Spanish-speaking population is so big now. There's Census forms in Spanish and Census Offices nationwide are looking specifically for people who speak English and Spanish. I'm indifferent towards the intentions of it though as I'm unlikely to work with ESL people as I don't speak Spanish.

EDIT: Shit, realized the form I mentioned earlier (with 7 questions) is different. That form is for people in Group Quarters housing (college dorms, nursing homes, prisons, basically a place that has its mail delivered to a PO Box). The one in the link is for Housing Units which most everyone here would fill out. The big questions are Name, Age/DOB, # of people living there and Sex. You don't have to answer the race questions.

Now that you mention it I remember my buddy saying he left that one blank too. (he owns in PA that he rents out. He & his wife live in VA where they're renting).

I have no problem with the census form. I've already completed mine and sent it in. However the census bureau's American Community Survey asks all kinds of personal questions, including your income. :x

Ditto! The regular census form is one thing, the 20 some page American Community Survey is another which asks:
-for full name
-for full names of each household member
-for gender
-for marital status
-for DOB
-the relationship of one resident to another.
-for the race of each individual
-the language spoken
-the education level
-the citizenship
-the ancestry.
-about the physical, emotional and mental state of each resident
-about certain medical conditions.
-for employment addresses
-the time each resident leaves for work, and when he/she arrives home.
-If the resident doesn’t work, the ACS asks if the person could have worked if offered a job
-if Self-employment, all income sources, and the total income earned over the previous year for each resident is also required.
-how many children each resident has given birth to, if any
-if any residents are currently pregnant.
-about Military service
-about retirement
-aboout the residence:
-when was built
-how much land it occupies,
-how many rooms it has
-number of bathrooms
-type of plumbing
-market worth.
-the cost of monthly utility bills
-mortgage or rent
-the dates each resident moved in.

I've researched this, and if I get the ACS I'm NOT going to mail it back in. Its a 20 something page survey of personal stuff the govt has NO business knowing about, and while the Census Dept states you can be fined up to 5k for refusing to answer it, no one from what I've read has ever been prosecuted for failing to answer it. You can find a lot of people on the net claiming that the American Community Survey is unconstitutional and the reason that the Census Bureau has never referred anyone to the Justice Department for prosecution is because one they're afraid the courts might rule it unconstitutional and/or a lawsuit would likely draw media attention and a public outcry that would very probably bring an end to the ACS, or end mandatory compliance.

Now your just grasping at straws just for the sake of grasping straws.

This week will be a very interesting week with Census Day on Thursday. If anyone has any general questions about it, just ask. Some things by law I can't answer (like where exactly I'm going) but other things such as questions to filling out the form I can.
