Black conservative tea party backers take heat

"ALBANY, N.Y. (Map, News) -
They've been called Oreos, traitors and Uncle Toms, and are used to having to defend their values. Now black conservatives are really taking heat for their involvement in the mostly white tea party movement - and for having the audacity to oppose the policies of the nation's first black president.

"I've been told I hate myself. I've been called an Uncle Tom. I've been told I'm a spook at the door," said Timothy F. Johnson, chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, a group of black conservatives who support free market principles and limited government.

"Black Republicans find themselves always having to prove who they are. Because the assumption is the Republican Party is for whites and the Democratic Party is for blacks," he said.

Johnson and other black conservatives say they were drawn to the tea party movement because of what they consider its commonsense fiscal values of controlled spending, less taxes and smaller government. The fact that they're black - or that most tea partyers are white - should have nothing to do with it, they say."

It still has it's slant, but an interesting read nevertheless.
Must be something to it if the very left leaning AP wrote this article.
The latest count shows 37 Blacks are running for Congress as Republicans in 2010.

We know who the bigots are.

GOP always has minorities in their cabinets, appoints them to the Supreme Court and defends the attacks from the left.

OK, so Mark and one of the Tuskeegee Airmen I met are moderates and not conservatives... but ain't life just GRAND?!???

Somebody has to stand up for the good guys. I stand up for my friends and heroes whether they are black or not. In this case, the article chronicles attacks on my black friends and heroes, and they deserve my support.

Apparently you really don't get it.

Obama has not been the subject of racist attacks. In fact, Obama himself has been the instigator of the racist remarks, as he has been in his dismissive attacks on his opponents and as he was in the Cambridge Cop Caper.

The only symmetry in comparisons between the racist liberal attacks on black conservatives and liberal claims of racism among Tea Partiers is that the libs are the hate mongers in both cases.

"The race card" means changing the subject to race where there is no underyling racial issue. In this case, race is the issue to begin with. Any fool knows that words like "racist" and "sexist" are too often just words that some leftists use to stop rational discussion. Works exactly like the "socialist" buzz-word that tea-partiers use.

If a white conservative called a black liberal anything that has the word "spook" in it - even if it's obvious in context that the word was not meant to be derisive - that conservative would be tarred and feathered.

Same deal with the gender issue. Any liberal woman who takes one-tenth the amount of crap Sarah Palin does, then it's just evidence that conservatives are rabid misogynists who are "afraid" of intelligent and educated and opinionated women.
