Just 24 months ago AOL against the will and common sense of virtually every investment company and Tech watcher purchased Bebo (a face book knock off) for 850 Million - Bebo popular in Europe... but nowhere else is a dud and anybody with a Tech pulse knew that…

Now just 2 years later Bebo is on the brink of being shut down by AOL...
Will heads roll at AOL - of course not - it's the American old boy network free market capitalism, somebody else will pay for their corporate mistakes never the actual leaders of industry, they're exempt from responsibility… Time Warner will just raise its cable fees and lay off regular employees and ask everybody else in the company to work harder

$850 million shoveled into a trash bin... and everyday Americans will bite this bullet for them

TW is a public company - if the shareholders care enough they can oust management. I've never been a fan of the local monopolies cable companies enjoy, but if the prices rise too high there are competitive options available with satellite. Vote with your wallet.

Honestly, I didn't even know AOL was still around.

I wouldn't even put the heads of AOL in the same ROOM with the "leaders of industry". Worst business plan on the planet.

At one time it was a brilliant business model and made millionaires out of a lot of people. The tech/internet world never sits still, but AOL did. Now it's a fossil.

And has been for 10 years. But you're correct, it WAS once a brilliant model. They just never figured out that people weren't still using Commodore 64's.

Somebody pitched bebo to me as an investment opportunity several years ago... thank goodness I said NO!

AOL, who the fuck uses aol? Didn't even know they were still around.

I actually work with a woman in her early 50's who didn't know how to use the internet other than AOL & my dumb ass boss hired her for a computer oriented job.
