SCOTUS Appointee
People overwhelmingly don't want the President to appoint a liberal to replace Justice Stevens, but they expect the president to do just that...

Since it won't upset the balance of the court, I can live with a liberal...it's just one more nail in the Obama coffin, since it will go against what most people want...dbackjon wrote:We need a good liberal. Anything less will be disapointing.

A dead nominee? Really?
Granted a dead guy would be better than Stevens, because the dead guy would follow the law instead of legislating from the bench.

I'd simply like a judge who's got some common sense.. is that too much to wish for..?
I could care less how that person votes politically
Just common sense - that's all...

I want one that isnt labeled a conservative or a liberal, one that follows the constitution and enforces the laws on the books.

Electing a judge because hes conservative or liberal defeats the purpose of being a judge.

I just want a smart one, an intellectual heavyweight. The Souter's and Thomas's of the world aren't the types I'd be happy with.

Hopefully the Dems who were clamoring for Bush to appoint more moderate justices will return the same favor to Obama. Prez needs to set a president saying that we aren't going to appoint our highest courts judges based off of political leaning... you'd just gotta hope stepping out on the limb, future presidents would feel the same (probably not).

No way, you would have to be ethical and unbiased to produce the situation you proposed. Dems are many things but ethical and unbiased should never be words used when describing them.

It will make up for some of the recent right wing appointments.
