(CNN) -- African-American farmers hoping for government settlement money in a racial bias case met with lawmakers Wednesday and called on Congress to come up with a way to fund the $1 billion deal.

A March 31 deadline to appropriate the funds has passed, and farmers now may withdraw from the settlement and pursue independent litigation against the government. Congress now has a target date of the end of May to come up with a plan.

"We spend a billion dollars on a jet to go bomb somebody. We're talking about a billion dollars to help feed our country, and I just don't see why Congress and the president can't go ahead and find [the funds]. It is an emergency," said Gary Grant, with the Black Farmers and Agriculturalists Association.

However, these farmers were actually discriminated against for no reason other than the color of their skin. The Pigford evidence and documentation is solid. The Farm Service Agency, FSA, screwed up bad here. Pigford is an example of real discrimination based on race and socioeconomic class/status.

I'll take your word for it. I don't have time to read through the whole thing. I'm like Cleets, tired of all the racial bitching. Time to put that shit behind us. We spend way too much time living in the fucking past. Get over it, move forward into the future. If all we can do is rehash the fuck-ups of the old dumbasses that have been running this country for the last 150 years or so, we're never going to get anywhere. I suggest a statute of limitations on all discrimination lawsuits to this lifetime. If the offender is dead, then too late. If they are still alive, and guilty, then a public flogging of the offending party, but no tax dollars are to be paid out. And in the future, capital punishment for anyone who even notices that anyone else is a different color or ethnicity. That includes everyone, even the ones that think anytime they get screwed it's because they happen to be a minority. Eventually all this shit will stop.

as a white man, I now know that until the day I die, I will have to apologize for every atrocity ever put upon the black man here in America. I don't like it, but I am so used to it now that it has become 2nd nature. The white race better get used to it.
