PHOENIX - Republican Sen. John McCain, who once championed a path to citizenship for the nation's roughly 12 million undocumented immigrants, is now pushing for a crackdown on illegals amid the toughest re-election fight of his career.

McCain's hardline stance on immigration comes in the face of a credible GOP primary challenger, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, and the possibility that the party's 2008 presidential nominee could lose his Senate seat because many conservatives don't consider him one of their own.

Engaged in a fierce contest with the tea party-backed Hayworth, McCain has moved to the right on numerous issues, including gay rights and climate change, and disavowed his long-standing maverick label.

I disagree, Arpaio is right on a lot of things and I personally thank him for enforcing the law and helping protect this country from the illegals that raid our borders every night.

Bush, Clinton Bush, and Obama should be ashamed at their FAILURE to stop illegals and protect our borders. They should be thrown in jail for not doing their job after taking the oath of office.


I love the fact that people have to carry identification now in Arizona or be arrested, now they are just like me. Any intelligent person would have no problem proving they are legally here, it probably takes a whole 30-45 secs out of their day AFTER they were pulled over for something else. If your here illegally you should expect to be asked to prove your legal, anything less is fu*king ignorant.
