A California county on Tuesday became the first in the nation to ban toys from fast food kids' meals high in calories, fat, salt and sugar.
The ordinance will ban restaurants from giving away toys with meals that have more than 485 calories, more than 600 milligrams of sodium, more than 35 percent of total calories from fat or more than 10 percent of calories from added sugar. It would also limit toy giveaways on single food items with more than 200 calories or more than 480 milligrams of sodium.

I'm sick of legislation takin' the place of parenting. I get the idea, but why not just educate people instead, and let them make their own decisions. Some kids get fast food rarely throughout the year and they love the toys. Why mess it up for them?

This will probably give ideas to some other counties out there too.

McDonald's is currenty the world's largest toy distributor. If this trend continues Santa or Wal-Mart might jump back into the #1 spot.

The degeneration into a complete nanny state continues at an accelerated pace.

1) Plant a tree

2) Ride a bike

:coffee:

We're all outlaws out here.

Just this morning, I cooked bacon put real butter on my toast and salt on my eggs.

I'm sitting here in my back room, with the lights out, waiting for them to come kick in my door...

...and impound my garlic salt.

Oh I see but more action from the government is good when it's police actively enforcing immigration...
I like states rights and local political action - and I explained why already
This County is doing the same thing Arizona just did that you and AZ and every Republican were clapping about, they are taking an issue into their own hands and solving a problem (either real or imagined)

can't you see your double standard... states rights..I like 'em no matter how stupid - I like em'

Actually I do see it. And you're right. If people don't like it, move out. They elected those fucktards, they get to live with the consequences.

I'm just glad I don't live there. :coffee: :coffee:

Well at least it was a county law instead of the federal one.

Apples and oranges, mon Hippie.

The U.S. has citizenship/immigration laws which the citizens democratically support, and which the Progressives have chosen NOT to enforce.

The Progressives HAVE chosen to pass laws the citizens OPPOSE to "protect the citizens from themselves". I haven't seen any Salt Shaker coalitions rallying to regulate salt consumption, or Fatty-Fatty-Two-By-Four parental voter groups protesting restaurant sales of high caloric meals for kids, yet a small group of Progressive elected officials are attempting to pass laws to regulate sodium and caloric intake.

No double standard, just fed up with ignorant Progressives trying to pass laws the voters never asked for.

I'll bring a ticket stub from the Twins game, after every broken bat by an opposing team in Target field this year, the Twins pledge to plant 100 trees in Minnesota. They like that kind of talk in Cali. :thumb:

Don't know what we're gonna do with all the trees they're planting out here.

Construction has become a topic in History class, and fireplaces are banned. This place is going to be a rainforest in a couple of decades.

Good news though...

...we'll have natural mass transit...

...and I'll be a zillionaire having established a franchised chain of leafblower sales and service...

...called "Blow Me".

You slay me TMan. I remember all those times G.Dubya talked about enforcing the current immigration laws and scorned all those who were for immigration reform. G.Dubya, he really got on those progressives on that issue. He never wanted to give the fast track to citizenship for all those illegals in the country like those progressives trying to boost their voting rosters.

Do your homework.

The border fence was being built at a break-neck pace up until Obama was inaugurated and ordered a halt to all construction.

One of my clients was a principal contractor on the project.

You lose your recess time today.

Probably because it's a big waste of money, like a fence is going to stop someone.
