There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket.

Note: This does not include makeup artist Ingrid Grimes-Miles, 49, and "First Hairstylist" Johnny Wright, 31, both of whom traveled aboard Air Force One to Europe .


FRIENDS......THESE SALARIES ADD UP TO SIX MILLION, THREE HUNDRED SIXTY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($6,364,000)FOR THE 4 YEARS OF OFFICE????? AND WE ARE IN A RECESSION????? WELL....MOST OF US ARE. I GUESS IT'S OK TO SPEND WILDLY WHEN IT'S NOT YOUR OWN MONEY?????

That email has been going around for quite a while. I just deleted it because it is so petty I just couldn't see how other first ladies haven't had the same privileges.

For me, it's not about what Michelle has versus what Laura had. For me, it's a microcosm of just how inefficient and wasteful the federal government is. I doubt if any of the governers have a staff as large as this, and this woman isn't even a government employee.

Could be but I like to look a little deeper into the facts before I make the opinion up. Is this staff really all for her? Does she have any control over what they are paid? Are we comparing what the staffers made today with what the staffers were making at the end of the Bush term or the beginning? Just like to know if I'm appropriately beating her up vs. Mrs. Bush and so forth.

In any case I'll bet there has been a lot of abuse by every first lady in the last 30-40 years. I guess they all have that "let them eat cake" type of mentality.
