Wanna Be NY Bomber Not Too Smart

Oh, no one will deny that Faisal Shahzad is an intelligent person...his education and employment background indicates he was successful...

But as a terrorist...LOSER!!!!!!
Shahazad provided his real telephone number “when he returned to the United States from Pakistan in February,” the New York Times reports. The phone number he gave, entered in a Customs and Border Protection agency database, came up when investigators were checking the record of calls made to or from the prepaid cellular telephone” Shahazad used in the attack.

And that's not all the information he provided investigators...
He left pictures and personal information on social networking sites like Facebook and Orkut. He gave his real e-mail address when he went shopping online for the car in his car bomb. He left the keys to his home and to a car registered in his name in the murder vehicle. He wrote down his real name (well, inverted) when buying the fireworks that he thought might set off his improvised explosive device, which turned out to be almost comically ill-constructed.

Agreed...

Interesting item from the linked article...the terrorist cells in Pakistan are leary (to put it mildly) when "American" muslims show up wanting to help...

The expert quoted says they usually give them some rudimentary training, and send them back to the U.S. to "attack" us...they figure if the attack succeeds, great...but if they are plants, there's very little the wanna-be can take back to the CIA or whom ever they work for...

That's a positive I guess. The people with the best access to the US aren't trusted by the terrorists.

Yeah, but something don't feel right about the situation, can't put my finger on it.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if Al Qaeda put this poor schmuck up as a sacrificial lamb to get some intel on NYPD/FBI response.

But I will tell you that the NYPD isn't dicking around anymore. And my 1hr longer commute sucks now because of it. I've never seen so many assault rifles in Times Square before.

Agreed. An organization that can coordinate simultaneous mid-air hijackings is smarter than THIS. This smacks of amatuerism....almost like it was never intended to work. :coffee: :coffee: :|
