This stuff is political gold for Obama. These people associate themselves with the Tea Party movement and the right wing in general, and are perceived as nutjobs by 95% of the population. It makes the Tea Party and the right wing in general look worse while making criticism of Obama look mean spirited, broadly false, and unfair to the mainstream. If I were Obama, I'd be looking to get these people moved up the ranks of the Tea Party and get their opinions out there. Its going to win him votes.

I wonder if the guy recants now and agrees to deploy if he'll be spared punishment?

I saw that interview last night and was pissed that Cooper wouldn't let the attorney explain why the certified birth record isn't good enough under law. It seems to me if you invite a guy on your show as a guest, you ought to let him explain himself with being so rude and dismissive. The State of Hawaii has certified a birth record for the President. I think I can figure out if the attorney has a plausible beef, or is just being a nut, without Cooper so emphatically suggesting the answer for me.

Yeah, Cooper killed my interest in the interview when he kept interupting him. I have a feeling that the level of the attorney's involvement in the interview wasn't what CNN expected.

I don't know why CNN would expect anything else. You have a guy being court-martialed (a criminal prosecutioni) and his attorney -- who do you expect is going to do the talking?

Is the certfied birth record not good enough under law?
I mean, it says this on it: "This copy serves as prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding."

Garden variety RA clown. Guys like him are the reason that enlisted men are taught to "salute the uniform, not the man".
Probably financed by the ilk that brought us the Arkansas Project.

Couldn't this all be solved by just showing the fucking piece of paper?
What's the worst that could happen?

I think so.
This guy was trying to say it wasn't, and I wanted to know why -- what is his reasoning? Cooper kept interrupting him to say the certified record of live birth is good enough. I think this attorney should have been able to say what he thought. I think we are smart enough to figure out if he's full of it. I don't need Cooper's help.

I think the point is that any person who asks for a copy of their Hawaii birth certificate gets this Certificate of Live Birth in response. So Hawaii is apparently saying we're not giving him anything different then what we'd give anyone else. Plus, the Governor of Hawaii has confirmed that the actual birth certificate is in the records.
And yes, as Sky says above - these people make Obama look normal.

I agree with KYJelli this interview was ridiculous, and it just shows how stupid AC360 is. The Dr and the Lawdog handed him his ass and AC360 was oblivious as to why.
The mainstream media is the lapdog of Bro Obama they will fight for the guy to the end no matter how they look and this was just another example of it. They refuse to admit Obama was not born in this country, so they are not doing their job, they are doing a disservice to our country.

Because apparently he doesn't have the piece of paper. In every jurisdiction with which I am familiar, two original birth certificates are created: one is given to the parents, the other filed by the state or local agency.
Many people, however, lose their original birth certificate over the years. I couldn't find mine when I was registering to take the bar. So I went to the municipality where I was born, division of records, and filled out a form requesting a certificate of live birth. This certificate states the information pertaining to the birth, and then an officer certifies that an original birth certificate is on file. This is, to my understanding, universally accepted as a valid public record and per se proof of the birth as set forth on the certificate.
That is what Obama has produced. He does not have his original birth certificate, but he has provided a certificate of live birth. Plus, as danefan notes, the Governor of Hawaii has said he has actually seen the original birth certificate in the file.
My son's birth certificates are in a safe deposit box. But my parents did that for me too, and I lost it anyway moving around after college.

I really hope some day Alphie is allowed to share his political thoughts on a national news show.

The worst that could happen from the Democrats POV would be to not have these clowns to keep dragging this farce out. The Governor of Hawaii says he has the goods in his files, why not let the buffoons keep chasing their tails and barking at the moon and generally making the Republicans look like even bigger wack jobs than they already are? Personally I think they should act like maybe the wackos have the truth, let them build up their jabbering to a crescendo and then pop their balloon right about, say, shortly before the election?

The point is moot either way. His mother was a U.S. citizen, living in the US for at least 10 years, 5 of which after her 14th birthday. BHO could have been born in a remote village in Nepal, and he would still be considered a U.S. citizen. http://travel.state.gov/law/info/info_609.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
