...just can't make this stuff up...

Suspicions about Arlen Specter aid Joe Sestak

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0510/37120.html
PITTSBURGH – The first time Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) slipped up here Tuesday night at the Allegheny County Democratic Committee’s Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, most in the audience pretended not to notice.

But at the end of his remarks when Specter again thanked the “the Allegheny County Republicans” for their endorsement, many couldn’t help but laugh nervously and shoot did-he-really-just-say-that looks at each other.

As amusing as it seemed to some of the Democrats in attendance, mistakes like that could end up costing him his job next Tuesday. It’s not that Specter is so precariously placed that he can’t weather the occasional gaffe, it’s that every little reminder of the 80-year-old’s Republican past chips away at his porcelain base in his new party.

“I think it’s not unusual for anybody to misspeak from time to time,” Specter shrugged to reporters after the dinner. “I’m not a television commentator. I’m not as smooth as you guys.”

 What a douche. There's no one running this year that I'd like to see lose more than this joker.

I agree but Harry Reid is a close second. The only one that could run them off the top spot is if McConnell was running in Kentucky.

 Nationally, true. Locally, for me, all would fall far behind Gov. Bev Perdue...if she were up for re-election this year.

Haha, I figured that one would be up pretty high on the list for you. I remember you being SOOOO confident that whole race that McCrory was going to win because he had Charlotte locked up.

 Yeah, I definitely misread that one. Especially with all of the bitching you hear here in Charlotte about how Raleigh shits on Charlotte all the time. Then Charlotte votes for Perdue. :ohno: Oh well, live and learn. Of course, I also thought Bush could lose in 2004, then the Dems put up Kerry and locked up a W win. Had McCrory won Charlotte though, he'd be governor. I'm not a McCrory fan, but surely he could have been better than Perdue (or at least not worse).

Heard today that Specter is in favor of Kagan for the supreme court but was opposed to her as Solicitor General. What a dumbass. :ohno:
