If commenting on legislation you haven't read is a crime for which government officials should resign, we wouldn't have a single congressman left. Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing.

Agree wholeheartedly, BUT there is a difference between that and the Attorney General criticizing the legislation and threatening to take legal action against it. How can the AG make such a statement without understanding the law? It boggles the mind. Afterall, it's not like the bill was 2,000 pages or anything. It's only 10 pages long.

Agreed. He may end up being right, but he looked stupid yesterday. As the nation's top lawyer, to opine about the law without reading it is mind-blowing.

We've got an entire House that never read anything presented to them in the last decade and a senate that can't be bothered to actually show up and now this...

I was going to say the same thing.

The goal is look confident in your knowledge of the law even if you've never heard of the law you're talking about.

Present company excluded of course. I learned the use of the phrase "I don't know, but I can look it up" goes a long way even though its inevitable that, like Holder, you look stupid up front. Most attorneys don't follow that practice though.
