American Exceptionalism

"A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% of voters nationwide believe the United States is the last best hope of mankind. Twenty-six percent (26%) disagree, and 24% are not sure.
Conservatives overwhelmingly believe that the United States is the last best hope. However, by a 43% to 29% margin, liberals disagree. ..."

So... I'm confused, native.
Aren't you and most teabaggers against foreign aid, foreign intervention, etc. etc.
If you believe the United States is the "last, best hope of mankind"... in what way do you approve of the US helping mankind as a whole?

The premise of your question is what's wrong with the whole world, skelly. Mother's milk is good for babies, but most people don't want to be tittie babies forever. Tittie babies don't make discoveries, build businesses, achieve dreams, take care of their families, or contribute to their communities, just to name a few.
If we get rid of Obama's policies and stop fvcking up, the United States will still be the shining beacon on the hill.
One of the best things we can do is establish a welcoming legal immigration policy for those who want to be contributing Americans and are not "national security threats, criminals and those who would come here to live off our welfare system."

We can serve as the guiding light for all the world to see...
1) Rampant consumerism
2) Abject laziness and obesity
3) A cesspool of political corruption
4) Special interest - big lobby and big business as the ruling class

as soon as we lead by example - (and I selected yes on this poll) we can re-ask the question

So, in what way are we the "last best hope of mankind"....?
So other countries can someday hope to be us? So someday people in other countries can someday hope to live here?

Bullf*ckingsh*t.
The United States hasn't been the "shining beacon on the hill" since the early 1960s.......about 50 years ago. This country has become a haven for crooks, terrorists, and ANYONE (legal and illegal) looking to make a buck. The United States has become a brand name pedaled by our government and our corporations.......and its stock is falling quickly.

Well, I don't see people risking their lives to enter any other country in the world (legally or illegally) unless it's to come here.

It happens all over the world, Baldy. Even Mexico has a problem with illegal immigrants.
It's a bigger problem in the US because the only border between an industrialized nation and a developing nation is along our southern border.
If a small river separated Mexico from Italy... they'd still be coming in droves.

Tell the whole truth, jelly...
Mexico has problems with illegals from the south...people who are trying to get here...not Mexico...
They actually do a little better job cracking down on those illegals than we do...but those they miss end up coming over our poor excuse of a border...

Who said anything about a small river?
What about people from all over the world stowing away on container ships, barges, etc., risking their lives just to come the the USA. Especially, when those ships make stops in countries like Italy or the UK or Spain etc...?

They do a much better job cracking down on their illegals, Hogan... you're right about that. But, if they believed they were simply on their way to the US... they wouldn't give a flying fuck about them.
They care greatly about illegals on THEIR southern border because (contrary to your assumption) the vast majority are going to
Mexico for better work. These people are the poorest of the poor, Hogan. Very, very few Guatemalans and El Salvadorans could afford to get from the south of Mexico to the United States. It's expensive as fuck to hire someone to get you there.

It's true, dude. Comes from the mouth of Mexican immigration agents I've talked to as well as Mexicans and Guatemalans I've talked to. I just came through the Mexican state of Chiapas... it's FULL of Guatemalan, Honduran, and El Salvadoran migrant farmers. You simply have no clue about Mexico, baldy.
If people from Central America were coming to Mexico solely to pass through it on their way to the US... Mexico would not give a fuck. You can laugh all you want... but, it's true.

You might not know as much as you think you know on this one...
Sweden, Denmark and France have HUGE Immigration problems as well
Yes people are really desperate to get to America (nobody could argue that) but there is a globe full of immigration problems and some are as severe as ours it seems

"the last best hope of mankind?"
Is mankind is some sort of danger? Is there a meteor I should know about? Do I only have a few days to live? Are we doomed?!
Seriously what the hell kind of question is this?

It's all related to "fear"
Fear is a booming business right now - it's the single easiest way to control minds...

America is a great country. There are other countries that are great in their own ways, as well. There are plenty of shit hole countries, and we're all very lucky to have not been born in them. Now, can we all get in a big circle and sing kumbayfuckinga?

So essentially what you're saying is the Hodurans, Guatamalans and El Salvadorians are invading Mexico and taking all the jobs, willing to work for $1 a day, so the Mexicans have to migrate North, willing to work for $50/day and taking jobs from Americans. Sounds to me like Mexico needs to secure THEIR Southern border as well!

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Hermann Göring, President of the Reichstag

Of course they need to. And they want to... and they're trying to. But, it ain't fucking easy as we all know.
And they have THICK tropical rain forest along their border... even tougher to secure than desert.

We will make the rest of mankind better through allowing them to work for a pittance making our Nike's and 3 in 1 printers while polluting their own countries so that we can afford said products on service industry wages.
