Arizona Corporation Commissioner Gary Pierce sent a letter to Los Angeles mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, in which he concludes that "...People of goodwill can disagree over the merits of SB 1070. A state-wide economic boycott of Arizona is not a message sent in goodwill."

Great letter - that man has a future in politics - well written, articulate and makes a point.

Pretty much to the point, although his threat to LA is largely an idle one. On the other hand, it's good to know that the LA government has cleaned up all their internal issues so they can focus on the impact of a bill in Arizona

I think it is great. He needs to worry about how screwed up LA is instead of what is going on in Arizona.

Not bad for a white, hetero, locally educated male, married to a blonde-haired, blue-eyed wife whose 4 sons are all Eagle Scouts, eh Jon?
Who'd a thunk?

I am confident that Arizona's utilities would be happy to take those electrons off your hands.
I love the snark.

I didn't know that about him. I may have to rethink my position...
Nah, still a great letter

BTW - born in Illinois (like many great people)
And, is not afraid to raise taxes...
n January of 2004, Representative Pierce sponsored HB2456, which authorized Maricopa County to call an election for a twenty year extension of the half-cent sales tax to fund transportation. The Regional Transportation Plan was placed on the November ballot, as Proposition 400. That measure passed, ensuring the resources to continue construction of our freeways with the goal to build a complete transportation system in Maricopa County.

But he owned a Budget Car-Rental Franchise in Purgatory (Yuma), so he must be ok.
Was a Union-member too (Teacher's union)

my response would be "keep your drug infested Hollywood fornicators, secular Jews, and undereducated, no accounting, black gang bangers to your own borders and leave us the fuck alone" but that's just me. Who gives a fuck what LA thinks. Arizona is doing whatever they can to protect their own citizens from illegal drug riddled trash that constantly infests within their borders.

Yup. I saw a brief clip on the local news here in SD a while back about the city council taking time to take a vote on whether or not to send a protest letter to AZ. The first thing that came to my mind is why the fvck is our city council wasting its time (and my fvcking tax dollars) on an issue they have no control over. Fvcking retards.

Anyone find it interesting that the focal point of the LA debate over SB 1070 is now Mayor Villaraigosa and NOT Roger Mahony?

I watched the entire disgusting City Council discuission. To his eternal credit, Carl Demaio was the only council member to vote against the resolution opposing SB1070. Kevin Faulconer shamelessly voted for it.

These are open to the public correct? It would be fantastic to have a citizen say his piece during the debate. Get up at the podium and just say "Correct me if I'm wrong, but AZ is a state we don't even live in right? If I have that part correct then maybe you mafuckers oughta start figuring out some shit that would help OUR city."
What a bunch of fucking douchebags.

I heard this story earlier in the week - definitely a classic. Man, I thought Philly's City Council was bad, but they look awesome standing next to that of Los Angeles.

San Diego is already feeling the backlash. Generally, 70% of San Diego's summer tourism comes from Zonies escaping the heat. Cancelling have started pouring in.

Faulconer is a douche who needs to go. I've hated him ever since he vehemently supported the beach booze ban a few years ago. Demaio is probably the only guy that actually thinks about the issues instead of voting along party lines. However none of these two are worse than Marti Emerald.
