Nobody cares what Colin Powell thinks. He lost all credibility years ago, sadly.

Haha. I like Colin Powell. Good guy. He used (still maybe?) to live just down the street from the Rite Aid I worked at and never let people let him cut in line because of who he was. He always got peeved if people treated him differently, but he definitely commanded authority with his presence. Sold him a keyboard, plain red cap, and a Snickers bar once when I was on register duty, and helped him find rubbing alcohol too on a different day when he was in some sort of leg cast. I always did wonder why he needed a cheap keyboard and cap from the local drug store though. Quiet guy, but he loved my manager (old white kinda rednecky lady)...and they'd talk and talk and talk forever about the most random crap, except for politics.

Sorry, that had nothing to do with the thread :-p

Good Story. Not part of the thread subject. But I met Hillary Clinton in the US Airways Club in NYC. No one was there except the club employees, Hillary and her staff of chatting young girls and a couple of body guards and me. We had a nice five minute chat at the coffee pot about nothing more than South Carolina, New York City and how good a cup of coffee was going to be that early in the morning.

I meet Gen. Powell in the summer of 1989 when he took command of FORCECOM at Fort Gilliem, GA. I told him why I wanted to be in the Army and I told him about my Great Grandfather that fought in the Spanish American War. We talked about 45 mins about when he was a 2nd Lt. in the Army in the early 60's. He also told me something that I never will forget. "Before you can lead, you must be able to follow"

That's pretty awesome. I always wish I struck up a conversation with him and do regret it, but I never wanted it to end up as one of those awkward conversations you have with cashiers haha. My co-worker (JMU grad for any who care) did card Powell once when he bought beer. Whatever few customers we had couldn't stop laughing, and neither could I (I was at the register right next to him). Obviously Powell noticed and was kinda annoyed, but my friend insisted.

As for Hillary Clinton, she was actually the speaker at my high school graduation (McLean '07). Byron Dorgan's daughter (who was a total whore btw ) was in my graduating class and got her father to get Clinton to speak. She was really impressive too and didn't involve politics in her speech. I wish she ended up running against McCain, but it is what it is.

Why would anyone run from DC?

First of all he has a heart condition and I doubt he would chase you.

Second he is a very cool guy. I met him at a Restaurant in Cody WY and he bought us some drinks.
