That is resulting in millions of dollars being cut from public education among other things here in New York City, my Assemblyman decided it was a wise use of taxpayers money to send out a letter and multi color brochure to tell his consignments that he was proud of how many American Flags he saw on display as he drove through his district on Memorial Day...
Fine Mr. Abbate, be proud but express your pride through your website free of charge instead of using thousands of high quality State Assembly envelopes and the thousands of high quality State Assembly letterhead pages and the thousands of 3 color legal size brochures on the history of the flag and the .44 cents in postage paid for each one.
Using the cost price from Staples.com (yah right... u know the letterhead and envelopes were union printed costing even more...) and coming up with a number of recipients based on amount of people who voted last election (again the actual number will be much higher) the cost of being proud about the flag being displayed around Bensonhurst on Memorial Day was at least $20,000.
Now you might say, well that's not that bad.... but how many other assemblymen did the same?
