Washington (CNN) - Joe Biden came under friendy fire during a summer-kickoff barbeque at the vice president's residence Saturday.

During the event for White House reporters and their families, the president's No. 2 was attacked with sqiurt guns by his grandchildren and by children of members of the press corps.

Soon, his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel joined in on the drenching ambush.

As part of the event, a quartet of the U.S. Navy band played country music and the Bidens provided clowns, games, and a waterslide for kids.













Looks like Wolf Blitzer got hit too.

I don't wanna sound like a prick 'cause I'm sure this was really fun for the kids, but journalistically speaking, press members should never involve themselves personally to politics. It affects their work way too much, and journalistic integrity is dictated by being as neutral as possible. If I was a press member, I'd have politely declined this invitation.

And what the hell was a US Navy doing there, providing entertainment? This was not an official or state function and I'm sure those sailors didn't volunteer to do it.

No I don't. That's part of the fun of my work. I couldn't give two shits if it looks good or not. That ain't the focus of my art.
