Or so says Time. They call her the "real deal," or words to that affect.

I'm sure Obama wants her to run. He's a shoo-in if she is the opposition. The GOP has to have someone better than Palin. Laura Bush would be a better candidate.

How much do you suck to be in all probability, trailing Sarah Palin in the polls.

PPP: Obama, Palin tied 46/46 in 2012 polling

No, this is not coming from Rasmussen or an internal GOP poll, but from the normally Democrat-sympathetic Public Policy Polling. PPP pitted Barack Obama against five potential Republican challengers for the 2012 presidential campaign, and the only one Obama beat was … Jan Brewer. Even that, PPP admitted, resulted from Brewer’s lack of name recognition. The headline, though, is Sarah Palin’s dead heat with the President:

In case one wonders whether PPP’s sample is to blame, the partisan split favors Democrats by five points, 39/34. That’s probably overstating the actual size of the gap and the percentage of Democrats in the general population, which means that the independents got short shrift as well. Also note that this poll surveyed registered voters, not likely voters — a sampling technique that would tend to favor Democrats and Obama a little more.

We both know that polls don't mean squat at this point. If Palin is the GOP nominee Obama will win. :twocents:

It's going to be really hard to get Obama out of office. Things will have to continue to suck for 2 more years (which they might), and even then his base will still vote for him in large numbers. The GOP needs a candidate that the whole party can unite behind and I don't think Palin is that candidate.

Why don't Republicans (as a group) like Ron Paul?

Wow. Those numbers look a little weird, UNH. Now, I'm not saying you're whacked for using them, though I would like to know when they were taken and maybe a bit about their sampling.

I find it HIGHLY weird that uber-liberal CNN would give Palin better numbers than arch-conservative Fox. I don't know a thing about the bias (if any) in the other groups you cited.

i glanced through this link quickly and grabbed what i could find as the most recent numbers from each. Its possible there are more recent numbers from them that arent posted there though.

FWIW the Fox number is from January and the CNN from April which could explain the smaller margin in the CNN poll.

Isn't it amazing that even Republican equate true republican thought and action as "nutty". He speaks and votes for priciple and gets called a fruit cake because it's not D.C. type business as usual.

Palin as the nominee is basically handing the White House to Obama again on a silver platter.

I'm a Libertarian, not a Republican. As a Libertarian I like a lot of Paul's policy proposals. I still think he's nuts.

He's basically Ross Perot v2.0

As for Obama in 2012, start getting used to hearing the acronym V.A.T. being thrown around - if it sticks to him you could run anyone against him and they'll win...

+1

Plus he's another fake conservative politician. He spews all the stuff about being against earmarks but still inserts earmarks into bills. He votes against them so he can claim he is against them but his district still gets the earmarks because he knows the overall bill will pass.

Ron Paul is a fake conservative compared to who? This should be interesting.

Most republican politicians are fake conservatives. They talk about cutting spending, being against earmarks, blah, blah, blah, but when it comes time to vote they are at the trough just like the Dems.

I have no love for Obama, but Palin's a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Hopefully a reasonable fiscal conservative will emerge that could challenge him, but I'm thinking Obama is likely a two termer in spite of himself.

If he got the nomination, all his homophobic, racist, and antisemitic skeletons would come crashing out of the closet.
Palin has a better chance of winning than Ron Paul, sorry. :-|
