I do not agree with the people getting after Obama for going to Maine. It is not like he will be out of touch. I will get after him for alot of things but not that. His kids will be going back to school and he should spend some time with them.

I am of the opinion that no president ever goes on vacation. They are always working...only the scenery changes.

Obama should vacation on the Mexican border. Or along the oily Gulf. Or among the unemployed in Appalachia. Or in Detroit. Or...

Nah...that would mean he'd actually be able to feel, first hand, the consequences of his decisions.

I don't give a sh!t as long as he takes a permanent vacation in 2012.

Stop trashing Obama. There are lots of communities in Maine that he needs to organize.

I have no problems with Obama taking vacation. Too bad the Donks made such a big deal out of Bush's Western White House.

Agreed. Good point about the kids.

I do think Obama is tactically stupid, as was Bush, for not showing up immediately in the Gulf for a photo op in shirt sleeves. Obama is also stupid for not trying harder to work with the governors to waive regulations and support solutions. Bush tried but was rebuffed.

I too tought too much was made about Bush's vacations. This is part of the reason that I don't have a problem with Obama doing it. There is alot of things Obama does wrong that is what is important to me not things that do not matter like vacations.

Well, on the one hand, it is useful to have people complain about Presidential vacations - it helps to identify those people as the more partisan amongst us. I never had a problem with Bush going to his ranch in Texas and certainly don't have a problem with Obama taking the kids to Bar Harbor (just a great place to vacation, btw, if you haven't been to Acadia then you're missing one of the more gorgeous places in America - I'd advise just going in the summer, but MJ swears Maine is fine in the winter too). Presidents are never really on vacation - it's not like they're using the Out of Office Assistant on their e-mail programs and not taking calls.

Oh, and I have no idea why you don't believe no "TRUE Mainers" are wealthy. I know several Maine born folks who made big money in Maine. Of couse, that would not include your typical back woods Maine mouse hunter dude who wants you to trim his ass hairs with your teeth, but there are certainly plenty of Maine folks who did well for themselves. Of course, you abandoned any claim to Maine...you are now part of the West Coast soft generation.
