We were told by leading Democratic members of Congress, including then Senator Hilliary Clinton, that Iraq had WMD.

Why wouldn't have any reasonable person believed, at the time of the invasion, that Iraq had WMD?

This is how you express a present belief about a past event.

For the record, I don't think Obama is a muslim. The thing is, you have all these things to make many people believe so:

-His middle name is Hussein

-He was born to a (apparently non practicing) Muslim father.

-Was raised by a Muslim stepfather.

-Spent 4 years of his youth 1967-1971 in the muslim nation Indonesia, 2 of them attending a Muslim school.

Also Iraq had, some years earlier, actually used weapons of mass destruction against the Kurds. So why would it have been unreasonable for any American to have believed, in March 2003, that Iraq had WMD?
