Democrats got 88 percent of 2008 contributions by TV network execs, writers, reporters

Senior executives, on-air personalities, producers, reporters, editors, writers and other self-identifying employees of ABC, CBS and NBC contributed more than $1 million to Democratic candidates and campaign committees in 2008, according to an analysis by The Examiner of data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics.

The Democratic total of $1,020,816 was given by 1,160 employees of the three major broadcast television networks, with an average contribution of $880.

By contrast, only 193 of the employees contributed to Republican candidates and campaign committees, for a total of $142,863. The average Republican contribution was $744.

Isn't Fox also a major network? Why weren't they included? Sounds like someone was cherry picking the numbers just to get a story.

If they limited the survey to the over-the-air networks, then the cherry-picking charge does not apply. Air networks are commonly separated from cable networks.

If, however, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, CNN-HN, etc., were included and FOX News was not, then THAT would be cherry-picking....

I could be way off here, but my impression is that if they included the cable networks the number would be much, much worse. FOX is just one network among many and I doubt they would offset MSNBC, CNN, et al. AND that's assumeing that every single network exec, journalist and talking head at FOX contributed to the Republican Party.

The Examiner story in the OP looked at contributions up to 2008...the big Fox contribution was in 2010...

I agree. The idea that a second stimulus is needed is, indeed, an outrage. But maybe that Op-ed column wasn't the article you were linking.

Umm, FOX (not FOX News) doesn't have a news division. Just like CBS and ABC don't have a cable news division. It's as simple as that.
