As opposed to creating more wealth via higher taxes for our government to spend on worthless foks who don't or won't work or can't use a (free via Dept of Health) condom? Sorry, but I'd rather the rich get it. Great, tax the ultra-rich (income over 1mil maybe), but a $250k threshold for higher taxes is ignorant...$250k combined household is not "rich"....

Their taxes are low, their wealth is growing, why aren't they creating more jobs?

It's consumer confidence (or lack thereof) - people want the economy to turn around, but are unsure of their ability to maintain their income so they retrench their spending. Drops in demand lead to a reduction in production, thereby restricting hiring or leading to job cuts. Toss in credit availability issues for good measure too. It's a vicious cycle.

Yes, he talking about the rich. Because it's the rich's job to create unnecessary jobs to prop up the unemployable in the country.

Oh, wait. I thought that was the Federal Government's job? :coffee: :coffee:

1. You likely don't become rich by being an idiot unless it's inherited or you're a member of the lucky sperm club
2. Non-Idiots don't go hire a bunch of people willy nilly unless there's demand for the product or service they provide lest they become less rich
3. Job creation is a natural result of basic Econ, supply and demand
4. Prop up consumer confidence somehow and you restore economic growth
5. Tax the piss out of the people or companies that create said jobs and you douse what little flicker is left in this economy.

How do you prop up consumer confidence if the rich aren't hiring? :thumb:

Why should the rich hire just to prop up consumer confidence? :thumb:

Exactly, they shouldn't. They should hold on to their wealth while the country crumbles. They'll entrench their power and end up the winners. Woooohoooo! :thumb:

It's not the rich segment's job to be benevolent.

You don't get rich by being stupid. You get "progressive".

Why should anyone create a tenuous job that will likely be eliminated because there are no orders? Is having a job where you aren't busy comforting, making you confident enough to go out and start consuming again? There are lots of folks who have been in their jobs for a long time that are hanging on for dear life to ride this thing out.

History will record the Obama administration as the best ever to grace our nation's highest offices. He is an activist president and has accomplished much more good already in 1/4 the time his predecessor did in eight loser years. He's done more good for the entire nation than that bumbling dork Reagan could ever have dreamed of doing.

Conkunism is dying a slow death at the hands of their radical factions of haters and Nazi-types.

God bless Obama!!!

Obama isn't doing anything, congress is the author, and Obama signs on. He's about as useless running this country as John McCain would have been.

The Rich Are Not Here to Give Us Jobs

Let's cut the baloney about jobs and rich people's taxes. If corporate profits automatically turned into jobs for the little folk, the unemployment rate would be plummeting.

It happens that company earnings now exceed their lofty peaks of the housing boom. And big-business balance sheets are sloshing in cash. Corporate America's decision to stick with its current workforce is not for a lack of dough.

Companies don't create jobs because they have extra money jingling in their pockets. They take on new workers when they want to expand, and right now the demand's not there to warrant that growth. Corporations are in the business of maximizing profits for the benefit of their managers and shareholders. They're not in the business of creating jobs, nor should we expect them to be.
