More good news for Islam!

Islam is such a peaceful religion...
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/17/us/17 ... ss&emc=rss" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"A cartoonist in Seattle who promoted an “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” last spring is now in hiding after her life was threatened by Islamic extremists.
The cartoonist, Molly Norris, has changed her name and has stopped producing work for a local alternative newspaper, Seattle Weekly, according to the newspaper’s editor, Mark D. Fefer."
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...!
But don't worry...Obama's got it covered.
"Mr. Awlaki stated that Ms. Norris and other unnamed people in the United States and Europe “are expressing their hatred of the Messenger of Islam through ridicule.” In a controversial step, the Obama administration this year authorized the Central Intelligence Agency to kill Mr. Awlaki, who is in hiding."

Not that I agree with Muslims threatening her life, but come on, turn the oven on and run away when it gets hot?

If they silence your expression, you are already a victim. Shhhhh...if you are quiet, the guys in the brown uniforms will not bother you. They are just going after the other people.
And what odds are being given that the 5 people just arrested in Britain on charges of targeting the Pope...Algerians...are Muslim?

Go away kitty unless you have something of value to add.
Obama issued a death warrent for a Muslim...deservedly so. He should target a lot more of those clowns.
And until Muslim leaders, religious and political, go on TV and vigorously and repeatedly denounce violence, then they are giving their support. Their support for their religion and its violent side makes Bush look like a girl scout.

Ah...Cappy is fond of the French! Makes sense...false bravado, confused politics and sympathy for the lazy poor (probably fakes the sympathy just to get laid), and a love of food! You were born in the wrong country, Cap'n.
Though it would have been quite a sight to see you chugging around in a futball stadium in your prime.

No one would be faking their injuries.

Ya know, I just wanna say that A LOT of Muslim leaders have denounced radical Islam and to me, it seems like the right-wing (and media in general) is ignoring it and defining who the Muslim leaders are so they can project that the leaders are not being vocal. Maybe it's because Islam's American leaders aren't as well-known as other faiths so people really don't know how the leaders are, but they have been out there saying that it's wrong. Whether you wanna listen or not isn't my problem, but let's not pretend that they haven't been doing it. Maybe if the media focused on these leaders, it'll actually look like they've been vocal. I'm not gonna list the names here...you guys are on the internet...look them up. And I'm not getting into a religious debate and I've said what I wanted to, so I'm outta this discussion.

If you have a policy of assassinating a particular Islamic extremist, why would you publicly announce it? It's like saying we are going to kill you unless you hide somewhere and make it too much trouble for us to find you.

Anybody can shed crocodile tears, ODU. Sure, there are patriotic true blue moderate American muslims, but they are the minority, even in the United States, and a tiny minority in the billion-person world of Islam. CAIR is not moderate, it is borderline terrorist. Rauf is not moderate. He is a typical tin-eared cleric wrapped in his own theological grandiosity, including sharia law. Fareed Zakaria and Salman Rushdie are more sensible, but they do not represent Islam, muslims, muslim scholars, or "moderate" American muslims.
Sure, the news media ignores pockets of reasonable muslims, but the problem is not a dearth of fair media coverage, it is a dearth of fair-minded and reasonable muslims.

My questions about moderate Muslims is - If there are SO many moderate Muslims, and they were horrified by the 9/11 attacks, where were they helping us fight? Where was all the support? Where were all the troops that were worth a shit?
I didn't see much of any of that. The moderates might be against the extremists, but they sure have sat on their hands in regards to helping. Fear, or just not that interested?

There are 10-20,000 muslims in the US military.

Funny how you should quote a 2001 artcle that was part of the Bush Administration huge push to show that we are not at war against Islam.
How many people are in the US military again? Total?
How many of those 10-20,000 (kind of an ambiguous number isn't it? Is it 10,000 or is it 20,000?) decided to quit over the last few years? Did any of them toos grenades into their fellow soldiers' tents in Doha? Did any of them shoot up deployment centers in Texas?
We might be frantically trying to show that we are not at war with Islam, but maybe we should turn the tables and make these 'moderates' prove that they are not at war with US.

Exactly. Name me one Muslim nation that stood beside America, and by their stance, said, "We deplore the attacks on America and the extremist wing that attacked them, and pledge our efforts to show Islam does not condone this behavior."
FUCKING NONE.
Wake up Skjelly. Fuck sakes, stop being such an apologist for those that hate America and all She stands for.

C'mon...there are a BILLION Muslims...and you say a LOT of Muslim leaders have denounced radical Islam. How many Muslims out of over a BILLION denounce radical Islam? And more importantly, how many denouce radical Islam for being radical against anyone other than another sect of Islam? Hint: their first priority is to other Muslims...anything else is secondary.
You are kidding yourself that Saudi Arabia/Egypt/Jordan are fighting radicals in defense of non-Muslims. They are fighting radical Islamists to preserve their own version of power...not to save the Western "infidels".
However, with all of the power of TV, radio, and other modern day media...why the hell isnt there any well known Muslim leader (not some made for TV propped up wanna' be) don't we have an aggressive anti'extremist Muslim leader who is on TV daily or weekly to condemn the others?

Muslim countries were behind us after 9/11 and our response in Afghanistan. They weren't after Iraq, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, torture, etc.

In regards to those countries, talk is cheap. For example, Saudi Arabia? Are you kidding me? You know damn well they didn't do a shitin' thing worth value to help us.
Until the countries that harbor Islamic extremists step up to eradicate them themselves, they haven't done shit!

Some of those countries are also not primarily Muslim. Albania and Kyrgystan come to mind.
Albania owes us their sovereignty, as we still protect Kosovar Albanians (another big mistake, and the kernel for the nextg Balkan war).
Kyrgystan constantly threatens to remove our airbase there, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Islam (the southern part of the country around Osh is Muslim). It has to do with their fealty to Russia.

A large percentage of those numbers come from people's heritage. In Albania, large numbers of the people there are non-practicing and/or secular, even more so than in Turkey. Kyrgystan is similar in this respect. I figured you would post the CIA factbook before I mentioned these two countries. I have seen both of them and they are not Islamic countries in the traditional sense. There are others on this list as well, but I'm not going to get into a hyperbolic argument with you.
The United States is largely Christian, but it does not tell the whole story to simply say that the US is 70% Christian. Islam does not hold sway over the politics of many of the countries on your list.
