Are you surprised? Where do you stand?

"...Fifty-two percent (52%) of Likely U.S. Voters say their own views are closer to Sarah Palin’s than they are to President Obama’s, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Just 40% say their views are closer to the president’s than to those of the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate.

Among the Political Class, however, 68% say their views are more like Obama’s, while 63% of Mainstream voters describe their views as more like Palin’s.

Eighty-four percent (84%) of Republicans and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party say their views are more like Palin’s. Eighty-one percent (81%) of Democrats say they think more like the president. ... "

Maybe that's why Bill Clinton was quoted recently as being sympathetic to Tea Party motivations.

In reality, I think the majority of America could easily disassociate themselves from both Obama's & Palin's view. Having to choose between the two and nothing else, then yes, today (this month, this week, etc) majority of American's would say they are more like Palin than Obama since Obama is in power just like they agreed more with Obama than Palin (Bush/McCain) two years ago. 99% of America is fickle & don't vote for what they want as much as what they don't want....

Agree. Americans now associate Obama with the "ruling power" whereas they associated him as change from the ruling power two years ago....Obama raged against the machine until he became the machine....

Would you like me to add categories, Clenz? What categories would to suggest to replace "Don't know/don't care/hate your stupid polls"?

Simply splitting the don't know/don't care/hate your polls into a don't know option and then a don't care/hate your polls option would be great for me...but I realize I'm probably being a pissy little bitch on this.

I would love to vote I don't know, but I don't want that coming off as I don't care

Vaild points, Appy, but it is also true that America knows the real Obama and perhaps the real Palin better than they did 22 months ago.

Also, the wording of the question matters. I could easily agree with someone's point of view without necessarily favoring them as a candidate.

In any case, this should be worrying for all the political class know-it-alls on this board and across the country.

Fair enough, Clenz. I will break them out that way in the future. :thumb:

No, you are not being a pissy bitch. You are being principled.

Agree, but that is why the pundit's shouldn't be too worried. Because, as you say, you can agree with someone without favoring them as a candidate. I may agree with more of Palin's (purported) views on the face, but would vote for Obama in a race between the two all the same. And I didn't vote for Obama last election. We've already been taken by good-looking candidate who can stir the masses, why fall for that trick a 2nd time? And the devil you know......

Obama's a smooth talker who presents himself well, but has little substance.....just like Palin. So, take the super-majority away from Obama to minimize possible damage & he is neutralized....wait for a better candidate in the future...don't send in another boob who can read a teleprompter (or her hand)....

Why Independents are Switching Parties

From Democrat pollster Doug Schoen:

"...Today, independents say they lean more toward the Republican Party than the Democratic Party, 50% to 25%, and that the Republican Party is closer to their views by 52% to 30%...."

the media actually dug into Palin's background unlike the secret life of Obama.

Read today that Obama had his Kindergarten records made off limits.
I wonder if we'll ever find out anything about his past and what he's been hiding.

I still say that Obama will be reelected if he is running against Palin. Midterm polls like this mean nothing.

Hillary did really well in early polls until it was time to actually vote, I think Palin will fare the same.

Pretty amazing that someone so demonized is now more popular than a sitting president. Just goes to show how many people are waking up every day. Still a few on this board asleep.

B.O. bumper stickers are really scarce now a days. Amazing how fast they came off.

It is often the case that pretty much everyone is more popular than a sitting President.

Don't have to demonize Obama. He and his team do a splendid job all on their own.
