READING, Pa. — An infant has died two days after being struck in the head by a bullet fragment that came from the floor of his Pennsylvania home.

The Berks County coroner's office said 7-week-old Michael Johnson died Tuesday night.

Police said a man on the second floor of the home in Reading, about 45 miles northwest of Philadelphia, fired a gun into the floor Sunday night. A fragment passed through to the first floor, striking the baby.

The Reading Eagle identified the boy's mother as 20-year-old Ebony Sanders, and said she was with the man on the second floor when he allegedly fired the shot.

Sanders ran outside with the baby after discovering he'd been hit, screaming for help, the newspaper reported. A neighbor then drove the mother and son to Reading Hospital, but doctors there had him airlifted to Hershey Medical Center where he died Tuesday night.

Reading Police Capt. Francis Drexler told msnbc.com that investigators plan to re-interview the baby's mother, but they are allowing her time to grieve the loss of her son. Asked how investigators classify her involvement in the incident, Drexler said she's "just a witness" at this time.

On a more positive note, the huge ramp-up of gun and ammo manufacturing, and price gouging that took place for a full year after the current administration took over has subsided to the point there are price wars going on in the local sporting goods stores. Ammunition shortages for rounds like the .223, .22, .40 S&W, and 7.62 NATO have ended, and bulk sales deals are abounding.

Kingman police Lt. Rusty Cooper says the temperature inside the vehicle was more than 100 degrees.


Cooper says the 21-year-old father forgot his 2 1/2-month-old daughter was in the vehicle when he arrived home about 10:30 a.m.

CHP spokesman Joaquin Zubieta said the Suzuki Samurai plunged Monday night into 9 feet of water in the Mojave River in Apple Valley. The driver had been off-road driving and was inching the SUV into the water when it plunged and rolled over.

I just picked up 500 rounds of 9mm for a steal...

Guy had bought about 5000 rounds about 18 months ago...had to get rid of it fast for cash...

Now I can plink real cheap...

Kid and I ordered the 1200 round econo pack of .40 from Cabelas a couple months ago, two weeks later the same package was $80. bucks less in the local flier...

These, along with plain old .22 were hard to get, and dang expensive a year ago.
