O'Donnell On Prime Time Tonight

The O'Donnell-Coons debate at the University of Delaware will be broadcast live on CNN tonight at 7:30. Wolf Blitzer will co-moderate.

Even if you're not from Delaware, I guess an argument between a witch and a bearded marxist is worthy of national prime time.

The Situation Room will air live from UD from 5-7pm. CNN American Morning will air live from UD tomorrow morning.

It really cracks me up how much attention this particular contest is getting. O'Donnell is down 16-19% depending on which poll you read.

I'm really surprised at this - I listen to CNN on XM on the way to/from work daily and they have an infatuation with her. No offense to Delaware folks, but I don't really see why we need a nationally televised, CNN-moderated debate with O' Donnell or for that matter any other candidate. To your point, she's not likely to improve her deficit in the polls no matter what she says (unless she works a little voodoo. ).

No offense taken. You validate my point. Why the fudge is the Delaware senate debate on national prime time?

Hell, we've had Rachel Maddow broadcast from UD last week, The Daily Show do a segment on Delaware last week, and SNL do three bits in the last two shows alone about O'Donnell.

I even saw some O'Donnell supporters that were getting heckled by an old lady in the parking lot during the Delaware/Maine tailgating last Saturday.

It's great entertainment I guess.

I will vote for O'Donnell. She's a worthless bum, but she will be a one term worthless bum.

The alternative is Coons...who will spend more money than a drunken sailor. :ohno:

The choice is simple...elect Coons and get Delaware's social welfare system of tax and spend even more deeply entrenched...or elect the whack job who will get a few of her friends in office, do a little damage, but who won't set up a PERMANENT drain on my wallet.

Remember, any spending Coons sets up will be impossible to reverse in this Democratic state. You know that. Anything O'Donnell sets up will be swept away in a more reasonable setting 6 years from now when the economy has recovered.

And if that isn't enough to make you not vote for Coons, think of the jokes we can have with both Biden and O'Donnell in office. O'Donnell has already brought money into this state with the television crew coverage...heck, Michael Moore will be bringing an entire movie set and the ScyFy Channel will be bringing their ghost and witch hunters...that means many $100,000's of outside dollars flowing into our economy!

It's the lame stream media attempting to define the entire Republican Party through O'donnell. :D

Actually, that's true. The New York Times is spilling a lot of ink on the race too.

FWIW, I was shocked by the number of O'Donnell signs I saw last weekend. Everywhere from Bridgeville to Bethany to Georgetown to Dover to Newark. Pretty much the whole state (at least the sparsly inhabited parts ;) ).

...and yet it looks like the only people silly enough to vote for her all reside north of the canal, if this board is any indication. Go figure.

So do I, of course. I was playing along and all. I'm not oblivious to the fact I am surrounded by idiots here on the peninsula.

By the way, whatever dumb ass Pennsylvanian started selling LSD stickers needs to be drawn and quartered. I've seen more and more of the more proper SLD stickers on cars lately. At least somebody got it right. The best sticker, IMHO, is still the Delaware Air National Guard's DANG. :D

 There are a plethora of Keystoners below the canal these days. Was saying that to Mrs89 on the way home Monday. Did they close the roads to the Jersey shore? :(

These days? Shit, they've always been here. The only real difference from 30 years ago is that they stay much later in the season and start much earlier the next year. My grandfather used to close his campground on Oct 15 and reopen on Apr 15 each year, but now it's more like March 15 to Thanksgiving.

Campground? Oh, well they've always been full of Keystone RV's. Pennsylvanians love them some tow behinds.

Pa and NJ idiots retire in Delaware to avoid the abusive taxes that Liberal Democrats impose in Pa and NJ. Then the same idiots move to Delaware and vote for Democrats in Delaware thereby screwing up another state.

New Jersey idiots, once you screw up your own state, STAY THERE. Deal with the consequences of your own stupidity.

I would be more than willing to have New Jersey folks shipped back to their state.

Nobody watched?

O’Donnell Calls Coons ‘a Marxist’ During Senate Debate
NYT ^ | 10/13/10 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR

Christine O’Donnell, the Republican Delaware Senate candidate, and her Democratic opponent, Chris Coons, hurled personal attacks at each other in a nationally-televised debate Wednesday night.

A feisty, aggressive Ms. O’Donnell called Mr. Coons a Marxist whose beliefs came from a socialist professor and said he would “rubber stamp” the policies of the Democrats in Washington. Mr. Coons raised questions about whether Ms. O’Donnell’s faith would drive her positions on social issues like abortion, prayer and evolution.

Pressed by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, Ms. O’Donnell refused to say whether she believed evolution was a myth, saying that “what I believe is irrelevant.” As she did throughout the first half of the debate, Ms. O’Donnell quickly tried to return the focus to Mr. Coons, saying, “I would argue there are more people who support my Catholic faith than his Marxist belief.”

Too bad for Delaware. :ohno: Calling someone a "marxist" has little impact on the majority of the sheeple because they do not grasp what it means. Sounds like Coons is just as shallow as O'Donnel, though. It looks like Delaware is going to get a sorry-arsed senator no matter who wins.

This entire fisaco is Mike Castle's fault for failing to invest sufficient effort in paying attention to his base, whose legitimate concerns he dismissed and whose support he arrogantly took for granted. What a fvcking prick!

I was at a party with Castle earlier this year. He was among many people who could influence the way the vote would go...and he was amazingly aloof. These weren't strangers...and he acted as though he didn't have a care in the world about the election. Thought at the time he was a little too comfortable. Now he has left us with two losers from which to choose. :ohno:

Castle has no one to blame but himself. An "MVP" gets beat fair and square by a freshman because the MVP failed to take care of business. Then the bloody idiot blames the freshman!

Darn right, blukeys. Those jerky Jerseyites are everywhere, like mouse poop. One of the NJ carpetbaggers is actually running for the DE state house this year -- as a Donk, of course.

Politics as entertainment (or porn - Palin) scares the hell out of me. That's all this is.

I used to love professional wrestling in the early 80's - Rowdy Roddy Piper, King Kong Bundy, the Millionaire.....

Modern politics reminds me of that, except King Kong Bundy actually cared about his fans....

I watched about 5 minutes, then CNN cut over to Chile for the rest of the hour. I wasn't going to stay up for the 11pm rebroadcast.

The 5 minutes I saw looked just like any other "debate". Not really a debate at all. Both persons calling the other one a liar, shaking their head, pretending to make notes, redirecting questions to answers they want to give... :coffee:

Typical debate. Didn't really amount to much in the grand scheme of things. O'Donnell will be trounced by 20% most likely.

The only really awkward gaffe of the debate belonged to O'Donnell. She was asked to name a Supreme Court ruling that she disagreed with this year and drew a blank. She finally said to check her website tomorrow and she'll have an answer posted.
