That is because despite the wishful thinking of most uber liberals in this country (which, all told, is about 15% of the country), America is center right, and thank goodness for that.

That's because this is still- though seemingly not as much as it was 50 years ago- a center/right nation. When the dems govern from the far left against the will of the electorate they get their asses kicked.
