What a shock... who would have ever known that Olbermann was a Dem supporter...
Keith Olbermann, MSNBC's primetime firebrand host, has been suspended indefinitely for violating the ethics policies of his employer earlier this year when he donated to three Democrats seeking federal office, MSNBC announced Friday.

I heard Hannity talking about donating to various tea party campaigns. Is this a plot to put pressure on Fox to get him off the air?

LOL at the notion of anyone on the left having enough sense to "plot" anything.
He's not going to get fired, he's tripled their ratings in the 8pm news slot. Note that I didn't say he shouldn't be fired. I'd fire him. But we all know that all of the 24 hour networks aren't interested in producing quality news. They're only interested in drawing ratings.

I don't think Fox has the same employment conditions that MSNBC has - MSNBC was very clear that certain classes of employees couldn't donate money to political campaigns. Fox, on the other hand, actually had their parent organization donate heavily to Republicans. Doesn't make it right or wrong in the grand scheme of things, but Olbermann's mistake was violating the terms of his contract.
Doesn't really matter, though, Olbermann will come out of this smelling like roses - he'll be back on the air in short order and he'll now have a badge of honor of supporting Dems, no matter the personal price he paid. He will have fought the good fight. And his sycophants will adore him as much as the whackos who adore Rush, although in smaller numbers probably.

Maybe you should slow down a little bit and think.

Let's clarify a few things:
- Olberman wasn't suspended for giving the donations according to the article - he was suspended for violationg an NBC policy which requires employees "of the news organization to obtain permission ahead of any political donations or activities that could be deemed as a conflict of interest." Had he obtained permission (not sure he could have but if he could), he would have been able to make those donations.
- MSNBC is owned by GE (just like Fox is owned by Murdoch or Murdoch's organization) and GE gives money to campaigns so it's not just Fox's Rupert Murdoch that does so. All of the parent companies do.
- Fox may or may not have the same policy but maybe Hannity received permission (I have no clue- according to the article CNN has the same policy as MSNBC so I assume it's common in the industry). Each circumstance needs to be looked at on its own facts.
For perspective, this may be extreme but a friend of mine who is in the media won't even vote in primaries (although he is in to politics) because he is concerned that someone may find out which primary he voted in and say he has a bias that way.

Who said anything about the ESPN reject being fired? He hasn't been fired. He's been SUSPENDED. Huge difference.

Who said anything about him being an ESPN reject? He walked out on them. Maybe ESPN is an Olbermann reject.

Yeah. I screwed that part up but the basic idea behind my post was right. While trying to explain the policy I blew that part. I will fix my post to what I meant.

I am deeply troubled to learn that Keith Olbermann may not be objective.

I wonder if Bill O'Reilly is going to say anything about this tonight. He will never mention Olbermann's name on the air but maybe he'll make an exception for this story.

So when your tax form says "do you want to contribute $1 to the presidential campaign?" ...um..does that make you a political donor?

Yes and no. You are donating to political campaigns, but the money is supposed to be divided among the candidates. You aren't donating to a specific candidate or party.

+1
At least MSNBC has the grace to not include "news" in their name.
