California was a great state until Reagan started creating hate (now the signature of Conks) back in the 60's. He went after harmless people on college campuses, creating fear and division, thus setting the table for the Bachmann, Limbaugh, Hannity, Rove, Newt, Palin, Cheney shit world we suffer through today.

Conservatism could have been compassionate and do great service to the world, but it was prostituted by those fvcks and countless more. Barry Goldwater is turning in his grave. Shame on Conks.

The Left's historical revisions of Barry Goldwater are astonishing and infuriating.

Bitch, I've read more books on Goldwater than you read military pamphlets at The Citadel. He is one of only two Conservatives I admire (notice I won't even call him a "Conk").

What did I like about him and what do most Progressive admirers of Goldwater like?

He was without HATE. He despised the factions in the early Conk movement who wanted to smear opponents and win the way most Conks do nowadays, by creating fear, dividing people and spreading lies. The guy is an American icon and should serve as an example to all politicians.

So, blow me, Toy Soldier.

You are right Cap'n. Barry Goldwater is what the right should be all about. Limited government and the right of the individual. I never understood the Bush and Huckabee position of we want small govt., but we still want govt. to tell you how to live your life.

Franks,'
I don't, and I know 99% of people don't want govt to "tell us what to do". It's just another Conk scare line. What's worse, having the govt (elected by the people) guiding us, or corporations and right wingers leading us around by our noses to ultimate Hell?

You mean like calling those who disagree with him "enemies" and telling those who disagree with him to "sit in the back" of the bus? That sentence (which supposedly is your litmus test for admiring someone) just describes EVERY STUMP SPEECH MADE by Obama during the just-concluded campaign season. He has spent the past 12 months creating fear, dividing this country even worse than it was under bush, and spreading horrible lies about those who disagree with his policies.

Guess Obama is off your Christmas card list too?

How is California a bad state today because of Reagan? The problems Cali have today are pretty much because of an entrenched political class and supremely powerful state worker unions. They can't ever raise taxes in that state and no one is able to reduce expenditures. Reagan had his flaws, but he's about as far removed from the current problems of California as I am.

My diatribe was more about the beginnings of ConkHate and I alluded to Reagan's treatment of students and other "undesirables" back in his day. My statement "California was a great state" had nothing to do with the present economic condition, but, rather, most to do with it being Ground Zero for ConkHate under his misguided direction.

Reagan never intervened in campus affairs until he was begged to do so by those progressive dumbass administrators who were running UC-Berkely at the time.

Could be, Blaine. The rub is his rhetoric and actions as he went about it. Read up on it.

:coffee:

Wikipedia:

"The administration of UC Berkeley believed that on campus political advocacy was partially to blame for the high percentage of student involvement in the widely media publicized Sheraton Palace demonstration. In response to such student political activity, on September 16, 1964, Dean of Students Katherine Towle released a letter stating that political activity and organization was no longer permitted on the corner of Bancroft and Telegraph. This intersection had served for years as a gathering place for students to hand out pamphlets and organize for political means. In protest of the recent ban on political activity and on-campus political organizations, the student group, CORE, erected a table in front of Sproul Hall. [6]"

Sounds kind Reagofascist to me, not the work of leftist administrators..................

Another intentionally mendacious exaggeration. :ohno:

There is more hate in any given half dozen of Cap's posts than in the entire life and career of Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Yeah, but it's Reagan's fault that Cappy has so much hate so it really belongs to Reagan. That bastard.
