Good Samaritans get ticket

So these two kind, caring people rescued a deer from a freezing creek, and a game warden gives them a ticket for not wearing life vests:

Where do we draw the line for stopping nanny-stateism?

And for the record, I do not wear a life vest when swimming/wading in lakes, rivers etc (or in a boat) but do when jet-skiiing or tubing.

They should have been given a ticket for saving a deer.

While I might agree with that, the point is our country's overregulation and nanny state mentality. I am a strong believer that you cannot legislate stupidty or morality.

“We seen the deer going under,” said Khalil Abusakran. “It couldn’t maintain. It was starting to freeze, and it was really getting bad.”
Hmmm. Guy has a funny sounding name with brown skin... probably a terrorist or an illegal.

States are broke. You'll see instances of fines and regulatory audits increasing. They'll try to get money any way they can. :ohno:

I agree with you. There is no good reason to save a deer. Ever.

Hit one of those giant rats with your car sometime and then pay for the repairs out of your own pocket or look at the damage done to the crops around here and you would understand why I say that. :coffee:

Not true. Men are not nearly as tasty as deer.

What if I take that deer and use it to feed my fellow man that is going hungry?

so letting a deer die a extended painful death just so it can be used to feed the hungry, that makes it ok?

What if I see a deer being attacked by wolves? That would be a slow and painful death. Should I shoot the wolves so they can't kill the deer or should I shoot the deer so its death is not slow and painful?

There is more to this story...
Turns out Maryland DNR and Baltimore couty police repeatedly told these two to stop. The boat was an inflatable raft with no life preservers. If these two had fallen into the water, a rescue would have put others at risk as well. That said, DNR is probably going to rip the tickets up. :|
