Now he's running for President... as a Republican.

Try these few words on for size: President Jimmy McMillan.

Really rolls off the tongue, huh? Well the former gubenatorial candidate and internet meme has declared interest in pursuing the gig.

McMillan, a staunch supporter of President Barack Obama, issued a more concerned tone on online show "Revolution Radio":
"I know Barack Obama is an Internet hog. I know he knows that I am out there. But what he hasn't heard yet is that Jimmy McMillan is running for President of the United States of America."

"If you don't do your job right, I am coming at you," he vowed.
Jimmy McMillan's energetic stage presence at the sole gubernatorial debate in New York this year earned him praise, and his signature catch phrase became a calling card for those who were fed up with New York's high rent.

In the end, McMillan received 40,000 votes, released a full-length R&B album and was made into a toy doll, too. But obviously for Jimmy Mcmillan, all of that is not enough.

The Daily News notes that McMillan will register as a Republican to avoid a primary against Obama. Which is not to say that he's afraid. "I can sit here and say how to control the country in 30 seconds, and they can't say it in 30 years," he said.

I think sksillyputti was wondering if Travis hadn't reconsidered since the repeal of DADT, and in light of the fact that Obama had presided over some remarkable bipartisanship in the past couple of weeks. It was almost as if a kidney stone in his meager presidency had finally been passed.

One piece of legislation finally passing on what.. the third or fourth try two years into his Presidency isn't enough to get him out of the dog house.

One piece of legislation? Are you fucking kidding me?

ONLY taking into account gay rights... here's what else he's done.

Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act :thumb:
Extended benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees :thumb:
Presidential Memorandum protecting gay and lesbian partners’ visitation/healthcare decision-making rights :thumb:
Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act :thumb:

So, that's FIVE major initiatives for gay civil rights undertaken by Obama in only his first two years.

What did your favorite president, Bill Clinton, do for gays?
--Don't Ask Don't Tell -- requiring gays in the military to hide and lie about their sexual preference
--Defense of Marriage Act of 1996 -- " the word 'marriage' means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife, and the word 'spouse' refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife."

That's TWO major initiatives AGAINST civil rights for gay men and women by Bill Clinton.

Sorry, Travis... but, you're a fucking joke.

I was addressing 93henfan and his specific question of whether I reconsidered due to the DADT vote. My response to him was that that one vote isn't going to change my perception right now... I never denied other bills having been passed since he became President.
