dback, that is about as generic as it gets. He can say all he wants before the election and now that it is over he will do what he pleases. Who knows what he will do. But I will find the news article and post it when I get home.

The reality of it is that Obama is too smart of a politician to touch gun control. Not gonna happen. You may see some attempt at a limited AWB, and restrictions on certain non-hunting ammo, but that is it.

Stop repeating what I said dback. I can see why there is concern from those that are passionate about it though and it is a righteous CONCERN but not a forgone conclusion.

And what is that? .223? That is a military round, but I know several people including myself that use that very caliber all year round for hunting and target shooting. How about 30 caliber, the military also uses this, as well as a ton of big game sportsmen around USA. 50 caliber? Also a military round and a civilian round as well.

Lets agree, to disagree. Neither one of us will change the others mind over this. You will not set my mind at ease, as well as I will not push my concerns onto you. It is not bad, it is just a very different upbringing.

I really really hope he does a good job. I do. I don't talk bad about the POTUS, ever. Never did with Bush or Clinton. It is just not something one should do. Disagree all one wants but don't talk bad about him/her. I won't talk bad about obama either. He just needs to walk a mile, hell even a block, in the other guys shoes and see that America is not a one size fits all kind of place.

Jon, read the Global Poverty Act. Obama is one of the primary sponsors of that and hidden within it are provisions that obligate the US to enforce the UNs ban on all small arms. In effect, turning over a portion of US soverienty to the UN.

If it has a use legit use in hunting, etc, it will not be banned.

And even in Obama wanted to, it will never pass Congress. Too many conservatives Blue Dogs will make sure of that.

No one is coming to take your guns, Grizza. Anyway, I have already put you on the "good list" that every Obama supporter has forwarded to high command :)

Well if I get another door greeter or another phone call at night about how I should vote obama this or that or how the Democratic party is the right choice for me, they will go the way of the Morman people that used to come by my house.

Just sayin.

And dback, you are and have always been a stand up guy. Maybe a little weak on the 3 day drinking binge but all right.

FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008
Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok
2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month
Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions

He wants to take away my CWP also. So I am unable to carry a concealed weapon. I passed all the tests, scored in the 95th percentile in the live fire exersize, and had a background check. I would think that I am ok, I am not a felon and not a nut job.
You have a right to a gun via 2nd amendment, but CWP is a grey area because it is not specifically addressed in the same amendment. If he leaves it to the states, then you have nothing to worry about in Montana (or NC, SC, AL, WY, TX, AZ, Ga, etc, etc).....just don't move to NY, NJ, VT, CA or OR...let the state's citizens worry about their own state.....
