The reductions in Arizona's safety net for the poor have drawn criticism from physicians as well as transplant recipients. Both groups have particularly attacked the practice of denying services to sick patients who had qualified for transplants before Arizona, with federal approval, changed its law.

Sarah Palin deserves an apology. When she said that the new healthcare law would lead to “death panels” deciding who gets life-saving treatment and who does not, she was roundly denounced and ridiculed.

Now we learn, courtesy of one of the ridiculers — The New York Times — that she was right. Under a new policy not included in the law for fear the administration’s real end-of-life game would be exposed, a rule issued by the recess-appointed Dr. Donald M. Berwick, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, calls for the government to pay doctors to advise patients on options for ending their lives. These could include directives to forgo aggressive treatment that could extend their lives.

This rule will inevitably lead to bureaucrats deciding who is “fit” to live and who is not. The effect this might have on public opinion, which by a solid majority opposes Obamacare, is clear from an email obtained by the Times.

Democrats had nothing to do with the Roe v Wade ruling, it was the supreme court, which at the time had a conservative majority of justices. Roe v Wade passed 7-2, meaning a majority of the conservative justices voted in favor or Roe. Plus, even though both houses were controlled by Dems at the time, if they had of brought forth such a bill, the Republican President Nixon would have needed to sign it into law. Imagine that, a Republican saying the government can tell you what you can and can't do with your own body.

From reading the Gospels, it is clear that Jesus would admonish us that we SHOULD give of ourselves to the poor. We cannot find a single instance, however, when Jesus advises us to TAKE from others to give to the poor.

It is absurd to call upon Jesus for political guidance, as He eschewed politics. There are many difficult passages in the Bible, but this concept is really quite straightforward.

It is equally absurd for the non-religious lefties to call upon Jesus for anything but personal salvation.
