I like Michael Steele, but he made a lot of mistakes as chair.

Ken Blackwell was always my first choice. No ifs ands or buts about his conservatism. I hope he resurfaces in some capacity. Maybe Sherrod Brown's Senate seat?

Let's see how Reince Priebus will do as the new GOP national chair. Does anyone have the inside scoop on what he is all about?

Glad to see Steele go. Too many verbal missteps, and GOP fundraising tanked as a result. Too bad, because he's a smart, personable guy who should have done better.

I hope Michael Steele finds a new place in the GOP political spectrum, as long as it's not in the party committee leadership. Too bad he lost his bid for a Maryland senate seat.

The Washington Post's Chris Cilliza sheds some light on the new chair's campaign for the GOP chairmanship:

"...Priebus was a reluctant warrior -- waiting on the sidelines for weeks for Steele to step aside and, when that didn't happen, saying little about his one-time ally during the final weeks of the process. But ... Priebus made clear he was the anti-Steele. He touted himself as a low-key doer, and made sure the 168 voting members of the committee knew about the successes he had enjoyed as chairman of the Wisconsin GOP, which won a governor's race, a U.S. Senate seat and two House seats last November. ... Priebus also enjoyed widespread geographic support across the committee -- none more important than from Henry Barbour, a Mississippi committeeman and the nephew of Governor and potential 2012 presidential candidate Haley Barbour (R-Miss.). ... Unfortunately, Mr. Steele's biggest mistake was one that he had no control over.......he was born the wrong color. :(

I imagine they can find a spot for him parking cars at the country club. Good tips if you can shuffle.
