Karl Marx is My George Washington

Post by kalm »

Chris Mathews did a bit on this today. I don't pay too much attention to Beck and view him as an entertainer not to be taken seriously but holy cow is he bat shit crazy. You can tell that Rush doesn't believe half of his own bullshit but I'm not so sure about old Glenn. Like SuperHornet, he's sometimes believable enough to almost be the real deal. :thumb:

I never take seriously anything that Glenn Beck says. :coffee:

Or the late Keith Olbermann, either.

So you were watching a show by a lefty entertainer talking about a righty entertainer talking about lefties?

Good point. Are you equating Mathews to Beck?

Glenn Beck is not my cup of tea but I think that article creates a totally false impression of what he is about. In particular, if you watch him at all you know that he is absolutely anti violence. In fact I have found myself disagreeing with him in that regard because he reveres the "founders" who established this country through a very violent revolution yet espouses the idea that violence is never the answer.

And he is not in it just to be an entertainer, either. Regardless of what you think of what he says, he's serious. He's not doing what he's doing for the purpose of entertaining.

How could anybody possibly claim to know what Glenn Beck stands for...
He contradicts himself minute by minute / sentence by sentence

And:
The fact that he's not doing what he's doing for entertainment is exactly what makes his brand of loony so entertaining

I don't watch him that much but I don't think it's difficult to see what he stands for. He's for sticking to the original principles of the Constitution and against the "Progressive" movement.

And can you reference something he's said either about original Constitutional principles or the "Progressive" movement that you can document as being false? I'm not saying you can't because I don't know. I haven't bothered myself with trying to objectively determine whether what he says is false or not point by point. I already know the "Progressive" movement does not believe in sticking to original Constitutional principles and does believe in managing the population as though it is a herd of cattle through dominant and pro-active central government.

Anyway, one is not justified in saying someone is "loony" for saying the things that someone says just because what they say consists of things one is unaccoustomed to hearing.

Somehow I've never been able to associate the words idiot and millionaire with one another. Each one of those TV personalities espouses a position and people who share that opinion, or dislike as the case may be, tune in. The left just has a hard time understanding how people can pay attention to the nut jobs on the right, yet are astounded people do not see the great minds of those on the left. Take the spin the left put on Olbermann's canning. They droned on and on about what a travesty of justice it was and referenced his “great” ratings as evidence. What they fail to mention is MSNBC is the 26th ranked cable network, just a tick ahead of BET and trailing TVLand. The other non biased news networks CNN came in at #32 CNN, while HLNews rolled in at #37. While the racist, bigoted, homophobic, idiotic FOX network comes home at a solid #2. In reality, Keith was nothing more than the tallest midget in the room. Even Fox’s morning shows had better ratings than his prime time slot. What liberals have such a hard time coming to grips with is this country has always been center right and the only way a liberal press can win is with a stacked deck. When they go head to head on a level playing field they get creamed. Enter the Fairness Doctrine. Walter Cronkite was one of the most biased news people of all time, yet he had command of the airwaves during a time when there was no outlet for dissenting opinion. The liberal press cannot deal with the fact people are fleeing from the old ways of getting their news. Newspapers are going out of business and the left leaning network news shows are in a ratings free fall. Before you start to tell me I’m a moron and don’t know what I’m talking about take into consideration I was a Communications Major in Radio and TV with a minor in Political Science. I saw all the bias and collusion from professors and students first hand. Yea, they hated my guts!

Well I guess that makes you a genius then
I was not in any way associating the Millionaire Beck with being an idiot - he's a showman
His fan base are idiots - and he plays them like a fiddle - and as I mentioned previously, I'm not sure he and Olberman aren't actually the same person...

I see you have your finger on the pulse of America...
You'll want to report all your brilliant data to MSNBC and CNN - It must be terribly difficult being such a misunderstood genius...

Oh my, another political posting expert expousing the popularity of Fox News, and somehow transcending that into "credibility" of Fox News.

The thing is, he really isn't. As Wedgie mentioned popularity =/= quality. Would you say bud light is the best beer out there because it's the most popular? Does McDonald's have the best food?

And, as I've said many times before, I can't stand CNN or MSNBC, either. With the staggering number of quality news sources available for free online these days, it's truly sad (although not surprising) that so many Americans rely on cable news. :dunce:

Well I guess that makes you a genius then
I was not in any way associating the Millionaire Beck with being an idiot - he's a showman
His fan base are idiots - and he plays them like a fiddle - and as I mentioned previously, I'm not sure he and Olberman aren't actually the same person...

I see you have your finger on the pulse of America...
You'll want to report all your brilliant data to MSNBC and CNN - It must be terribly difficult being such a misunderstood genius...

Nice, condescending reply. You pseudo intellectuals :notworthy: amuse me with your holier than thou attitudes. How dare a peasant like me dispute the authority of the self appointed social and political experts. I'm not misunderstood and I'm far from a genius, but next to some liberals I know I’m darn near Mensa material. No need for me to report any data to MSNBC and CNN, it's all there on mediabistro.com for all to see. BTW, news people aren’t writing novels so they don’t typically use paragraph breaks in news stories. Anyway, didn’t realize I was part of an essay contest where my sentence structure was going to be critiqued. Geez, some of you guys are a piece of work. :dunce:

Beck's fan base correctly believes the majority of the signers of the Constitution to have been religious men - at least 26 of 39 IF you don't include Congregationalists, who were much more religious in the day than in modern times...

In fact, Benjamin Franklin was the ONLY pure Deist among the signers of the Constitution, yet, someone boldly and falsely proclaimed...

Who is the genius?
