Rahm Emanuel: F*** Me!

"I should've stayed in DC and continued to manage that dysfunctional White House staff," said an apoplectic Rahm Emanuel after learning that the Illinois Court of Appeals had decided to throw his name off the ballot in Chi-town for failure to meet the residency requirement. "S**t, even that Mick Daley couldn't pull a single precinct for me!"

"F*** those old geezer judges. I'll win in the state supreme court. And f*** those press hounds who were pulling against me. And f*** me for hiring a lousy lawyer who lost the whole f*****g thing for me," said the flustered former Clintonite wunderkind.

"And by the way, we need more goddam civility in this country. And Cutler should give up his man-cave and play on that candy-ass knee of his!"

Right, since Rahmbo is in the Chicago political class, the actual local laws do not apply to him. He will get his way because he is a Chicago insider with power.

No other reason.

Why do they bother with writing the laws in Chicago???

They need rules that keep the masses in their place.

And TTBF is correct, his goose isn't cooked yet.

I am of the opinion that the Chicago election laws are living, breathing, evolving documents and the Illinois supreme court will verify it.

to be clear - in politics there is something akin to "coaching trees" in football... I'm on Rahm's (a long-ass way down... but I'm on there) I know his campaign manager, and he seems cautiously optimistic that he'll be on the ballot in the end.

and just like that -
The Illinois Supreme Court Tuesday agreed to hear the appeal of a court decision that knocked Rahm Emanuel out of the mayoral race.
the court - in taking the case stated:
“The Board of Elections is directed that if any ballots are printed while this Court is considering this case, the ballots should include the name of petitioner Rahm Emanuel as a candidate for Mayor of the City of Chicago.’’

90 days before the 2004 election, Alan Keyes was not and had never been a resident of Illinois, yet he was still allowed on the US Senate ballot.

Are the eligibility laws for the State of Illinois senate election the same as the City of Chicago? If not that is of no relevance.

Would state law trump city law?

no. municipalities can set their own standards for eligibility - however, the crux of this case is more complicated and has less to do with a set number of days per se, but much more to do with what one must do or have done to "establish residency" or how one "loses residency"

Paying property tax isn't enough? It should be, imo.

Although the thought of one of the ruling class suddenly scrambling for a job is amusing.
