"Appellate court judgment reversed; circuit court judgment affirmed."

With those eight words, the Illinois Supreme Court ended a week of drama (dare we say "dRahma"?) surrounding the Emanuel campaign for Chicago mayor.

All seven justices on the Court voted to overturn the ruling kicking him off the ballot. The unanimous decision is a tremendous boon to Rahm's campaign, and sure makes those two appellate court judges look a bit foolish.

Victory in hand, Rahm will now concentrate on the mayoral debate, which starts in less than two hours.

the "chicago way" as you i'm certain conceive of it - would have been for the hack job judges to have knocked him off the ballot clearing the way for Chico (the guy the machine wants)

Has nothing to do with the "Chicago Way" The State Supreme Court interpreted the law like it has always been, whereas the two judges earlier this week interpreted it as it never had been before.

The whole world is not as corrupt as you seem to take for granted, dawg. But the Chicago machine is one of the most inefficient and corrupt in the nation, and I hate it.

Fait accompli... anybody with one eye and half sense knew it would turn out that way.

As for the election, more of the same. Rahm could shit his pants on stage at the debate and he will still win as there are very powerful forces that need and want him to win.

The funny thing about this is that the "machine," both on a local and state level, has appeared to run city and state into a ditch financially- yet they still remain in control. We here in Florida- with our great weather, pro business governments, and no state income tax- welcome the smart people and businesses who want to escape the corruption, mismanagement, and outright fraud that Illinois and Chicago politics have been for decades.
