If you look closely, you can see the Danube flowing into the Indian Ocean.

Makes perfect sense to me, and probably easier to view from Alaska.

Chris Matthews Says Panama Canal Is In Egypt
Newsbusters ^ | 1/29/11 | Noel Sheppard
On Friday, the “Hardball” host got a touch of instant karma when he said the Panama Canal is in Egypt (video follows with transcript and commentary):CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: You know, the great thing about Egypt is it’s its own country. It was always there before there was an America or Britain or anything, there has been an Egypt. It’s like China. It’s a real country.

I can't view the image at work but I assume it is the map. If so it appears to be fake.

If it's not the map, forget I said anything.

I'm sure most people know he was talking about the Suez canal......

Yeah, but what about the rest of it? Egypt and China are real countries, but America ( I assume he meant the US) and Britain (I assume he meant Great Britain or the United Kingdom) are not real countries?

A quick google search by even the most rank amateur (me) shows that the image in question is at least a year and a half old and there is no real proof that it wasn't photoshopped in the first place.
Nice try...

Yes, it is old. No proof it isn't real.
Funny as hell, on both sides.

Did someone say it was recent? And as you said... no real proof that it wasnt photoshopped.... so no real proof it was.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was real, and it wouldn't surprise me regardless of the network it was on.
COME ON PEOPLE, these are former Journalism majors we are talking about here! Don't any of you remember them from school? You know, the ones who had the best pot? The ones who went to morning classes in their pajamas? The ones that were always in summer school trying to pass Betty Crocker chemistry?
Nobody in the TV media industry is exactly a genius.
There are now a lot of former columnists who are quite sharp who are working in TV, but they are the exception. Any time Krauthammer enters a TV news studio the average IQ goes up by 120%.

I think the Huffington Post ran a story about this being fake. I’m too lazy to post a link but I got a good laugh out of the map anyways.

So indicators that this was fake were also on the lefty sources?
Jelly this might be one of the most epic failures ever. Ranks right up there with the Truther guy. Maybe you should get out more. Or maybe do a little fact checking there, Dan Rather.

If any conservative had said what Matthews or now Schumer posters here would give it its own thread.
Imagine if Palin said any of his stuff.

Will Chris Matthews and MSNBC Spend Week Bashing Schumer's Branches of Government Gaffe?
Newsbusters ^ | January 31, 2011 | Noel Sheppard
As NewsBusters has been reporting, the folks at MSNBC last week - in particular Chris Matthews - spent a great deal of time attacking former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) for comments they erroneously felt disqualified the conservative women from public office.
Will this network and its commentators pay as much attention to Sen. Chuck Schumer's (D-N.Y.) remarks on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday wherein
he claimed the three branches of government are the House, the Senate, and the president (video follows with transcript and commentary):

It also links to the "BoingBoing.net" article posted earlier in this thread as the reason why the photo is faked... although the "boingboing" site only says:
"Just one problem: this image was circulated two years ago, and who knows if it was real or Photoshopped in the first place. "
So perhaps Skelly, as well as the others who laughed at the novelty of the photo, were "fucking morons" (as so eloquently put by BDK), seeing as the photo is almost two years old. But those who jump down his throat without actually doing any research themselves, are equally culpable in the stupidity wheel.
Either way, it's a funny photo, real or not.

Yup, Dems and Reps say stupid shit. Some of it is a slip of the tongue, some of it is genuine stupidity. If you are going to complain about the lack of attention/threads on the subject (besides what seems to be the spotlight Palin brings on herself), why don't you start your own threads about the stupid comments made by Matthews or Schumer instead of burying them in a trivial thread like this?

I'd call it "Dem's say the craziest things" or something really funny like that.
