Now Jordan. Abdullah's an Ivy League kid and a pretty smart cookie. Apparently he's staying ahead of the game.
New Jordan Government: King Abdullah II Dismisses Government

AMMAN, Feb 1 (Reuters) - King Abdullah of Jordan, a close U.S. ally, on Tuesday replaced his prime minister after protests over food prices and poor living conditions, naming a former premier with a military background to head the government.

A Jordanian official said the monarch officially accepted the resignation of Samir Rifai, a wealthy politician and former court adviser, and asked Marouf Bakhit to form a new cabinet.

Demonstrators inspired by mass protests in Tunisia and Egypt had called for Rifai's dismissal.

Shrewd... very shrewd... Jordan is one place where I hope the current leadership stays in power. Abdullah has walked the line between the west and Arab world very carefully over the years.

There is a good chance this is gonna go throughout the Arab nations now I would think. There is a lot of youth in those countries without a whole lot to look forward with what they have now isn't there? From someone even with as little intelligence as I on the Middle East it looks like the domino's are gonna continue to fall for a while.

 Technololy and exposure to western culture maybe driving some of this, which is cool. It might lead them toward our ideals of democracy, porn, and booze and reject the fundi's.

The thought of big titted Arab chicks with a a beer in their hand and a cock in their ass is almost too much to take. :notworthy:

The ratio of poor people to rich in those countries is way out of whack, even compared to our country...and their poor are MUCH worse off than our poor.

That leads to the problem that the Arab youths who have the cell phones and computers are your typical educated and business softies who will cave when pitted against the piss poor masses with their hard core ideological beliefs and large knives.

all this crap in Egypt is a ruse to get the Muslim Brotherhood to take over the nation. It's a big conspiracy throughout the region by the hardcore Muslims to eliminate Israel. Good luck, you haven't done it so far.

Reminds me of these two exchange students from Saudi that were living on the same floor as me in the dorms. These guys had a hard drive filled with porn by the middle of the first semester.

Yeah, most of the Saudis I knew in school drank and smoked more weed than I did, which is no small feat.

Lucky for him he has someone to throw to the wolves. You do not want to be a world leader when the whole global economy becomes unraveled.

I went to high school with a bunch of folks from Iran (after the Shah’s fall), Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Lebanon...it was a private boarding school.
One thing you can count on…if it gets ugly, the rich will take care of themselves and get out – and they will take their money with them. The upper middle class will also. That will leave a small middle class and some idealists…hardly the type to stand up to some hard core psychos. The lower middle class will suddenly understand that change doesn’t come quickly…an entire infrastructure needs to be developed…and their dreams will confront a hard reality.

"There are 120 students in my classroom. That's more than any teacher can handle," said Ahmad. "Change would mean a better education system I can teach in and one that guarantees my students a good life after school. If there is democracy in my country, then I can ask for democracy in my own home."

Are you kidding me? What guarantees can she give to her students? More poverty?

Unless some strong moderate comes to the front quickly, and has a plan to invigorate their economy at an unheard of pace, the radical Islamists, with their guarantees of virgins and the promised land, will have a field day.

Therein lies the rub... El Baradei is considered a moderate, and yet he is proposing a coalition government with the Muslim Brotherhood. Interesting stuff. Makes one wonder how objective he was with the nuke commission.

The American press is zeroed in on the MB like they are the main element of these protests... they clearly aren't... a lot has been made that these guys spun off Hamas... which they did -25 years ago... an while there is no mistake that they are an Islamic party - they AREN'T Hamas... attempts to paint the opposition that way is pretty clearly coming from Mubarak and the regime, and it's intended audience is their patrons in the US... it's a gambit and a desperate one to hold power.
