What a bunch of POS, this is why kids in this country coe out of our liberal controlled education systems like D1B, DBack, ManeJeff, houndog and other. They are graduating students that are borderline retards, because that is the BEST they can do.
The doctors should be dis barred and the teachers fired for FRAUD.

Wisconsin actually has one of the better education systems in the country. It's states without collective bargaining like South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama etc. that graduate retards.ALPHAGRIZ1 wrote:h They are graduating students that are borderline retards, because that is the BEST they can do.

Well, let's not discount the whole "garbage in, garbage out" theory as well. You're going to graduate more retards if you bring in more retards to begin with. A fair amount of the success of a student is tied to how much capacity they have for learning in the first place. Just sayin.Skjellyfetti wrote:Wisconsin actually has one of the better education systems in the country. So people from South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, etc. are inherently more stupid? Why do they always perform terribly in school? I think it has way more to do with those states' disdain for public education than the capacity the students have for learning.
Those states produce retards. The kids don't go in retards when they enter the public education system in kindergarten.

Re: Wisconsin Teachers need to be fired and replaced
Exactly. I'm sick of teachers who try hard getting the shaft for failing to improve students with learning disabilities or just plain refuse to try. Lack of parental involvement is a HUGE part of the issue that standardized testing forgets about. Now we have teachers who are forced to teach to the test and get busted for doing "real" teaching.GannonFan wrote:Well, let's not discount the whole "garbage in, garbage out" theory as well. Eh - you can't teach stupid. And it's not shocking that people who did poorly in school typically have kids who do poorly in school, and that people who were successful in school have kids who are successful in school. There are certainly exceptions to that, but more often than not those tenets hold true.Skjellyfetti wrote:So people from South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama are inherently more stupid? Re: Wisconsin Teachers need to be fired and replaced
Oh, I agree. We've way oversimplified how to grade and judge teaching performance. I'm all in favor of evaluating teachers, going to some type of merit based system, and lessening the ironclad tenureships that are out there, but it needs to be a pretty well thought out and structured system. And school administration needs to be improved to be a part of this too. Simply looking at student test scores is pretty unrevealing.SuperHornet wrote:Exactly. Two-thirds of the eighth graders in Wisconsin public schools cannot read proficiently according to the U.S. Department of Education, despite the fact that Wisconsin spends more per pupil in its public schools than any other state in the Midwest.Skjellyfetti wrote:Wisconsin actually has one of the better education systems in the country. In the National Assessment of Educational Progress tests administered by the U.S. Department of Education in 2009—the latest year available—only 32 percent of Wisconsin public-school eighth graders earned a “proficient” rating while another 2 percent earned an “advanced” rating. The other 66 percent of Wisconsin public-school eighth graders earned ratings below “proficient,” including 44 percent who earned a rating of “basic” and 22 percent who earned a rating of “below basic.”

first.brent bozell's cnsnews.com
at least citadelgrad was smart enough to omit the link.
second, 'the article y'all are quoting from doesn't say anything about how wisconsin does comparatively to other states... it just says a high percentage score below "profiency" in reading.
and wisconsin is #8 nationally.

Look at the bottom of the rankings... where it's full of states without collective bargaining. i guarantee you the states that perform better spend more.

Ok. So states like South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas that don't have collective bargaining and have the worst education systems attract the worst teachers... I agree with you.youngterrier wrote:education problems are more associated with the quality of teachers/ retardedness of students and how they compliment each other.
The teachers are much better in states like Wisconsin with collective bargaining.

YT, the money spent in poor districts doesn't really change the outcome. It's the money that the poor parents don't have that does.

Ummmm, it was a study performed by the US Department of Education. The only thing CNS news did was provide a link and post a story.
Excellent attempt at deflecting the truth on your part, though.

This. CA spends over half the state budget on education and the public school systems still crank out plenty of retards. If I were tenured after 2 years of service and got to cruise to retirement I'd probably suck at my job too.youngterrier wrote:ummmm.....no. The system being broken has nothing to do with money. Re: Wisconsin Teachers need to be fired and replaced
Speak for yourself fucknut. Collective bargaining has little to do with the caliber of the teachers, students and families. South Carolina is a right to work state while at the same time, has active unions.Skjellyfetti wrote:Wisconsin actually has one of the better education systems in the country. So you're a Highly Functioning Autistic child. Listen, the ability to teach and reach the child depends on the ability of the child to accept and the family to nuture that education. The pension and health care issues aren't causing teachers to become great. It's a socio-economic issue.Skjellyfetti wrote:I'm from Alabama.youngterrier wrote: Nope. you don't live here![]()

There are studies that show good teachers can overcome the poor home life issues (poverty, bad parenting, etc.) that many kids deal with. It's too bad that we have to lean on the schools to do what mom and dad should be doing but a good school with good teachers can help fill that void.
